Why this role matters:

The Data & Metadata Architect plays a critical dual role, uniting the disciplines of data architecture and metadata management. This role ensures that enterprise data is well-structured, governed, and discoverable—supporting regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and business insight.

Key to the role is the ability to design scalable data architectures while also managing metadata strategy, including writing regex patterns and building custom classifiers—especially using tools like BigID.

• Metadata Strategy & Tooling: Govern metadata standards, support structured/unstructured metadata discovery, and manage tools such as BigID for automated tagging, classification, and lineage.
• Regex & Classifier Development: Design and maintain regex expressions and custom classifiers to drive data discovery and policy enforcement—particularly within BigID environments.
• Data Modeling & Architecture: Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models that align with business strategy and compliance needs.
• Metadata-Driven Design: Embed metadata into architectural blueprints to support classification, data lifecycle, privacy, and discoverability from the ground up.
• Data Integration: Define integration standards and architecture patterns for ETL/ELT, APIs, and cross-platform data exchange across cloud and on-prem environments.
• Lineage & Compliance: Enable end-to-end data lineage, support data retention policies, and ensure compliance with regulations like CFIUS, GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Management, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience spanning data architecture and metadata management.
• Proven expertise with BigID or similar tools, including writing regex patterns and creating custom classifiers.
• Strong knowledge of data governance, privacy, and metadata lifecycle.
• Experience with data modeling tools and cataloging platforms.
• Understanding of data integration, lineage, and hybrid cloud architecture.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
