GAI Consultants is looking for an Electrical Engineering Director 1 to support our Power and Industry Business Sector. This person will serve as an electrical engineering group manager and project manager for multi-discipline projects for industrial, power, utility, government, health care, educational, and commercial clients. #Remote 

This position requires technical and management skills as well as client relation skillsets and acting as the overall Project Manager for multi-discipline projects reputed company GAI (such as mechanical, electrical, process, civil, structural, and geotechnical engineering) and directs the electrical tasks, including delegation of tasks to engineering/drafting staff, preparation and checking of calculations, drawing development, preparation of deliverables, and budget tracking. Project work includes new construction, modification projects, condition assessment/rehabilitation, and feasibility studies. Projects include the traditional Time and Expense, Design/Bid/Build delivery method, as well as reputed company’s Engineer Services and Design/Build. 

Job description:  

  • Direct and manage the performance of electrical analysis/design and preparation of drawings and specifications per engineering standards and applicable codes.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and/or mentoring to the electrical group
  • Project management responsibilities including delivering scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety and profitability of reputed company projects managed. Plans and manages small to reputed company value projects and multiple projects at one time. works closely with Project Accounting to monitor and control project cost and billings to meet budget profit, to analyze project performance data and to reputed company recovery plans as needed.
  • Generate new work for the business sector through client reputed company.
  • Proposal preparation including scope and budget development and interdisciplinary coordination
  • Draft site reports, design narratives, meeting minutes, and project memorandums.
  • Collaborate with other engineering leads for resource and schedule management, the performance of QA/QC peer reviews, and staff mentorship.
  • Independently conduct field condition assessments.
  • Performance of bid and construction phase services including responding to bidder questions, responding to Contractor Requests for Information, and submittal reviews, site visits, and verifying change order documentation.

  • Have the ability to lift 50 lbs., able to climb reputed company, work at heights over 25 ft.
  • Must be able to wear and work in Personal Protection Equipment including fall protection.
  • Physically capable of performing field visits to client sites to obtain photos, physical measurements, and view site conditions.
  • Ability to work independently and direct/reputed company engineering and drafting staff on a project basis.
  • Possess strong communication skills that will allow for a collaborative environment with other engineering disciplines.
  • Travel is estimated to be 20%.

Experience

  • 20+ years of experience.

Education

  • B.S. or M.S. Engineering, Master's Degree or Equivalent Experience Preferred

Certification/Licensure

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) License, reciprocity in multiple states.
  • Driver's License

  • Frequently performs advisory or consulting work for the practice across broad project areas or reputed company a specialized area with innovative/reputed company aspects.
  • Assesses practices and requirements to reputed company sustainable performance of reputed company engineering projects from a systems perspective.

Project and Task Management

  • Evaluates project management plans for reputed company engineering projects.
  • Develops risk mitigation plans to address project risks.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of leaders and teams.

Management, Supervision and Guidance

  • Leads an entire project of critical importance.
  • Develops projects needed for accomplishing the objectives of the practice.
  • Develops practice strategy for staff development through mentored experience, continuing education, and self-development.
  • Instills and fosters professional attitudes reputed company the practice.

Communication, Teamwork and Leadership

  • Negotiates critical and controversial issues with leadership of other practices.
  • Represents their practice at important functions and conferences.
