About the Role:

The Mapping team is responsible for the infrastructure and pipelines that generate and serve the most critical prior required by autonomous vehicle operations: the HD Map. We reputed company vector priors, reputed company detection, and offboard data extraction aggregated across petabytes of AV log data to ensure our autonomy stack operates optimally. We manage the end-to-end systems that track map quality, issues, and fixes.

As a Software Engineer on Mapping, you will have the opportunity to create and own algorithms and processes that automatically generate our Map as well as architect service infrastructure to build, store, and serve the Map.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement algorithms that can take driving data and generate/update the Map
• Explore new ways of building: e.g. incorporate VLMs to automatically detect reputed company situations
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Localization and Perception to drive product requirements for mapping
• Engage in requirements gathering across the company and with external partners to ensure Mapping's service ecosystem solves real problems
• Design and own some of Mapping's service reputed company - from data pipelines to map serving and display
• Set a culture of engineering excellence, working closely with management and customers to balance speed of delivery and quality of engineering artifacts

Qualifications:

• Education: Degree in Computer Science or reputed company field
• Experience: 5+ years of professional software development experience
• Expert level development skills in python or C++ (we work mostly in Python, and are happy to teach)
• Experience in SLAM, Mapping, or GIS
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
