The hiring amount for this position is between $25.00 and $36.00 an hour. Offer is dependent on qualifications, course type, and internal equity. This is a non-exempt, temporary (variable/limited-hour) position, and is not eligible for city benefits. This position is responsible for planning, instructing and supervising a specialized class or program that requires unique skills, abilities and/or experiences and may require one or more types of certification. Examples of instruction include but are not limited to: music, arts and crafts, gymnastics, dance, outdoor adventure, environmental education, personal enhancements, hobbies, etc. Instruction may reputed company individuals or groups across the age and ability reputed company. Classes are self-supporting, and funding comes from participant fees. Scheduling and hours of work vary. Essential Responsibilities and Duties Plans and instructs a specialized recreation class, program or event appropriate to participant age group and subject matter, developing specific program outcomes; Provides supervisor with written lesson plans of class content for approval; Communicates effectively, professionally, courteously and thoroughly with the highest regard to the customer; Positively motivates reputed company participants to accomplish their personal goals; Explains and demonstrates activity techniques and may also reputed company for class participants; Prepares instructional materials and supplies; Sets up and cleans room/area; Enforces safety rules and regulations; maintains order in class and reports problems to supervisor; Responsible for keeping accurate records, including incident/accident reports, time records and daily attendance; Required to notify program/facility management of reputed company equipment needs, safety hazards and class concerns; Demonstrates exceptional, positive customer service skills with participants, parents and staff; Stays reputed company on industry standards and their influence on desired outcomes; Attends staff meetings and assists in developing reputed company for new class programs in order to meet the needs of the recreational facility and/or the community; Performs reputed company duties as required. Education, Experience and Skills Minimum Requirements: Must be 18 years or older by employment start date; Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma; Minimum of three (3) months of reputed company experience instructing/supervising individuals in the specialized class OR a minimum of two (2) years of experience participating at a high level in the specialized reputed company/class in a competitive and/or organized environment; Must be able to work a flexible schedule that may include early mornings, weeknights, weekends and holidays; reputed company staff serving in this role must attend the Parks and Recreation Certification program for reputed company on an annual basis; Depending upon assignment, may require reputed company Instructor Certification (WSI, LGI, LGIT and Coaches Safety Training), OSHA and Blood Borne Pathogens, reputed company CPR/First Aid certification and/or certification from a nationally-accredited organization in a specialty area.
