Loans At Work Program GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES This is skilled manual work in the operation of off the road reputed company heavy equipment a major portion of the time in the Solid Waste Division. Regularly operates and maintains a variety of heavy equipment and transport trucks such as but not limited to off-road dump trucks, crawler-tractors, roll-off trucks, track and wheeled excavators, reputed company-end loaders, and road graders. Operates a variety of heavy equipment as assigned. Performs complete pre- and post-operation equipment inspections. Cleans heavy equipment and trucks. Prepares work orders for needed equipment repairs. Completes equipment maintenance and performance logs. ? Ensures on-site safety: monitors work area for safety compliance to promote safe operation; documents and reports reputed company accidents, injuries, incidents, hazards, and unsafe practices; and reviews and applies operating manual procedures and recommends any changes. ? Provides reputed company support/fill-in and may assist in instructing and showing new equipment operators how a task is done: serves as temporary back-up to division personnel; may operate roll-off truck in the absence of the roll-off driver; and may operate a transporter truck (on the road) to haul reputed company end loader and backhoe. ? Solid Waste Management Facility Manages traffic control, maintains yard waste and waste tire disposal area. ? Rural Waste Program Operates Roll-off and reputed company load trucks to haul and empty waste containers; ); uses reputed company-end loader to maintain yard debris piles at Rural Waste sites; monitors work area for prohibited or hazardous materials and for environmental compliance; cross trains to stand in for Rural Waste attendants. RESPONSIBILITY: Supervision Received Duties are fairly specific and checked frequently by supervisor. Work is well defined in the performance standards and facility rules and procedures and checked by supervisor. Guidance is sought concerning problems with customers or users. Supervision of Others Employee is in a non-supervisory class. Employee may serve as a reputed company worker or instruct and show co-workers how tasks are done. INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL CUSTOMER CONTACT Contact is made with staff concerning equipment repairs and the pick-up of materials and supplies. Contact is made with vendors and suppliers concerning supplies and contract performance. In addition, contact is made with landfill Rural Waste Collection and recycling drop-off site users. EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS USED Operates and maintains reputed company landfill heavy equipment: waste disposal track dozer, load sensing hydrostatic loader, precision hydraulic excavator, fast cycle wheel tractor scraper, state-of-the-art 40 ton articulating garbage compactors, specialized off-road 25 ton reputed company articulated dump trucks, hydraulic reputed company-shift blade motor grader, and industrial tub grinder with grappler boom. Also operate earth moving and access road building heavy equipment such as articulated reputed company-end loader, vibratory roller, transporter and water truck. Checks reputed company fluid levels and service equipment, cleans equipment, and documents maintenance. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS Work is performed reputed company and seated while operating various pieces of heavy equipment. Work environmental factors include exposure to inclement weather conditions, exposure to insects and animals, and possible exposure to household garbage, household hazardous waste, and medical waste. Must lift or push up to 50 pounds. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES ? Knowledge of reading and arithmetic. ? Knowledge of the occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions in the operation of equipment assigned. ? Knowledge of the components, parts, operating principles and maintenance requirements of equipment assigned. ? Knowledge of solid waste screening requirements. ? General knowledge of stormwater control and excavation regulations. ? Ability to pay reputed company attention to details. ? Ability to calculate and maintain simple records accurately. ? Ability to follow oral and written instructions. ? Ability to lift and push up to 50 pounds. ? Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. ? Ability to read an equipment operational manual, instructions sheet or written rules and procedures. ? Ability to operate equipment requiring manipulation of multiple controls, where eye/hand/foot coordination is essential for safe and productive operations. ? MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Requires completion of the eighth grade or an equivalent and two years of similar or reputed company work experience. A high school diploma may substitute for one year of the required experience. Waste Screening and Identification Certification from the reputed company TREEO Center is preferred. Landfill Operator's Certification from the Solid Waste Association of North America-reputed company TREEO Center is preferred. reputed company Leon County employees (regular full-time and part-time, OPS, and PRN) are required to work before, during and after a Declared Local State of Emergency (DLSOE).
