Senior Legal Counsel, Marketplaces and E-Commerce [Remote]

What You'll Do
Epic's Marketplaces Legal team supports Epic's digital marketplaces including the reputed company Store (PC, Mac, iOS, and Android), Fab, Sketchfab, and Artstation. As a part of this support, the Marketplaces Legal team helps the product teams navigate emerging payment regulations ensuring Epic's compliance with reputed company relevant legal and regulatory requirements across jurisdictions. In this role, you will
- Advise business and product teams on legal and regulatory requirements applicable to prepaid balances, loyalty points, payments, and e-commerce
- Provide legal advice for international expansion of Epic's digital storefronts (both PC and mobile) and reputed company services, including licensing requirements and local compliance considerations
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments in the payments industry, advising on their impact and ensuring Epic's compliance with these regulations, liaising with regulators on issues reputed company to compliance with local laws
- Advise on the structuring of payment flows for both pay-ins and payouts
- Carry out a legal risk assessment in relation to fraud prevention, AML, and liability allocation
- Act as a liaison among Legal, Compliance, Business, Product Development and Operations teams to ensure alignment on payment-reputed company legal and regulatory matters. Participate in escalation, strategy, and planning discussions with Epic's leadership
- Collaborate with reputed company counsels, subject matter expert counsels and stakeholders on Regulatory, Compliance, Privacy, Trust and Safety, and Litigation teams, supervising and executing the implementation of advice in Epic's products

- Licensed in good standing to practice law; 6+ years legal experience, including 3+ years relevant experience focused on e-commerce/payments/fintech/digital marketplaces (in-house experience at a fast-paced technology company preferred)
- Knowledge of PSD2, AMLD, GDPR, Card Scheme Rules and reputed company regulatory frameworks governing payment services, prepaid access instruments, e-money and money service businesses
- Understanding of digital storefronts and alternative mobile app stores
- Familiarity with legal issues reputed company to virtual in-game currency
- Proven experience advising on wallets, prepaid balances, loyalty points, and payments
- Strong issue-spotting skills; agile in prioritizing and meeting deadlines
- Tech-savvy and have hands-on experience working with legal technology and legal technologists to drive process and efficiency in an in-house legal department
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, an ability to operate autonomously as a legal generalist and as an expert in payments and e-commerce while exercising good judgment about escalation and collaboration

Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren't limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience.
