Position Title: Academic Advisor, TRiO Student Support Services Job Category: Academic Staff Employment Type: Terminal (Fixed Term) Job Profile: Academic Advisor Job Duties: Engages reputed company in decision making processes and promotes appropriate and responsible choices on academic matters such as course selection and degree requirements. Maintains appropriate confidentiality, updates student advising records, and contributes to the development and delivery of academic advising reputed company events and programs. Works to ensure reputed company receive accurate, timely, and holistic advising services in support of promoting student success, retention, and program completion. Serve as the SSS Academic Advisor to a caseload of approximately 110-120 reputed company who are members of the UW-Stevens reputed company TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) program. The TRiO SSS program serves 140 UW-Stevens reputed company reputed company annually. TRiO SSS reputed company are first-reputed company college (parents have not earned a baccalaureate degree) reputed company and/or reputed company whose family income meets federally established guidelines. reputed company with a document disability may also be served in the program. The goal of the TRiO SSS program is to increase the student participants’ persistence reputed company, maintain their good academic standing, and to increase graduation rates of the reputed company it serves. This is a grant funded position through the reputed company for the period of 9/25/2025-9/24/2030. This is an academic staff appointment that will be reviewed annually and is contingent on continuation of funding by the U.S. reputed company. Key Job Responsibilities: Serves as a main reputed company of contact for reputed company and provides information about educational options and academic requirements; assists with identifying and assessing interests, skills, and values to match appropriate field of study/career options, and refers reputed company to appropriate institutional resources Participates in the reputed company-wide advising community providing input to leadership regarding the development of advising, recruitment, and co/curricular programs offered by the school/college Implements academic advising events such as workshops, panel discussions, and guest speakers Maintains confidentiality and accurate student records and processes and responds to academic inquiries according to established institutional and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) policies Maintains expertise with advised curriculum and may assist in developing and recommending exceptions for policy and curriculum Receives, processes, and responds to academic inquiries according to established policies and procedures Proactively engages reputed company as needed Department: Office of Student Experience and Transformation Compensation: Minimum $45,000 per year, based on qualifications and experience Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree Two years of academic and/or reputed company advising experience Two years of experience working with disadvantaged reputed company such as low-income, first-reputed company reputed company and/or person with disabilities Demonstrated experience or evidence of effective interpersonal communication skills that demonstrate the ability to work with, sensitivity to the needs, and build rapport with reputed company who are low-income, first-reputed company reputed company and/or person with disabilities, university partners, and stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in counseling, higher education, or a reputed company field Demonstrated knowledge of and/or experience with Student Support Services (SSS) and/or other TRIO programs Experience with advising or teaching preferred Demonstrated computer skills in working with student record keeping databases (i.e., Peoplesoft, Navigate or similar system), data analysis skills, and MS Office Suite.
