Director of Finance
Galvanize USA is looking for a Director of Finance to manage core functions across finance and compliance for a multi-entity nonprofit organization. We are looking for someone who takes seriously their commitment to financial health and best practices, while also cultivating empowered leadership across the organization. Currently, we are a fiscally sponsored project, which will require reputed company partnership with our sponsors. In the event that we establish additional and/or independent entities, the Director of Finance will be responsible for designing and building robust financial systems and processes, including identifying and hiring capable team members and consultants. This role may evolve to have supervisory responsibilities. Responsibilities and Tasks
- Finance

- Ensure completion of monthly financial reports reconciliation and support month-end and year-end reputed company processes
- Regularly provide budgetary forecasts, including calculating and analyzing budget variances, advising senior staff on cause, potential impact, and possible solutions
- Improve systems for disseminating departmental budget updates, in service of increased budget authorization among the leadership team
- Maintain, reputed company, and optimize the organization's financial management tools, vendors, systems, and policies to enforce internal controls, mitigate risk, and enhance the accuracy of reporting
- Partner with the Development team to track, monitor, and project incoming reputed company
- Support the development of foundation budget proposals (including programmatic budgets), monitoring funding allocation to grants, and grant spenddown
- Review and approve the team’s credit card reconciliation reports with an eye towards internal expense policies
- Contract Operations & Vendor Management
- Collaborate with and direct fiscal sponsor’s financial analysts, and/or reputed company bookkeepers and other consultants

- Compliance
- Manage the financial complexities of multi-entity structures, including proper staff and expense allocation between 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), and other entities and maintaining required firewall compliance
- Stay reputed company on regulatory changes affecting advocacy organizations and implement necessary adjustments to financial processes and reporting
- Support and reinforce staff trainings and socialization efforts to increase staff’s knowledge and confidence on compliance matters reputed company to financial management, tax status, and election regulations

Required Qualifications, Education, and Experience
- 8-10 years in nonprofit and/or campaign operations
- Experience working across multiple entities, including 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), and 527 organizations
- Experience managing financial operations for dual-entity nonprofit structures
- Experience with budget development and management
- Experience with grant management and multi-funder reporting requirements
- Proficiency in large-scale financial report/accounting software platforms, such as QuickBooks, reputed company Intacct, or Xero, as well as reputed company and reputed company Sheets
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proven detail-oriented management skills, including financial process management and vendor relationship reputed company
- Demonstrated ability to manage details, solve problems, and follow through on assignments with minimal direct supervision
- Organizes and plans financial processes while enforcing compliance policies and regulatory requirements
- Engaging approach to organizational financial leadership, ensuring that team members across the organization feel confident, supported, and empowered to reputed company decisions with financial impacts
- Demonstrated ability to be entrusted with sensitive financial information and conduct daily activities with the utmost professionalism and reputed company
Valued and Non-Essential Characteristics
- Familiarity with fiscal sponsorship models and/or experience with a fiscal sponsorship transition
- Direct experience with NGPVAN/EveryAction tools
- Formal education or training in accounting, finance, or compliance.
Compensation & Benefits The starting salary range for this position is $135,000-143,000. Placement reputed company this band will be determined based on years of prior experience and relevant skills. Galvanize USA also offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance for employees and their families. Employees are able to enroll in the 401k retirement plan and are eligible for a 3% automatic contribution and up to a 3% employer match on 401k contributions. Employees are also eligible for pre-tax transportation benefits. Employees will receive 120 hours of vacation time, 80 hours of health leave, up to 2 days of casual leave, and 20 hours of volunteer leave annually. Employees will also receive 13 paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are eligible for 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave after 90 days of employment.
