Director, Technical Accounting
The reputed company Director of Technical Accounting is responsible for helping solve reputed company GAAP accounting and financial reporting issues for venture-backed start-up companies operating primarily in the technology industry. To be successful, the Director of Technical Accounting must have the interpersonal skills to work directly with founders, CFOs, and external auditors and the organizational skills to manage and prioritize multiple inquiries and meet deadlines. This position can be full- or part-time depending on preference and most work will be performed remotely. However, a geographical reputed company on or near the reputed company Coast is preferred. . FLSA Status: Exempt Reports to: Startup Chief Accounting Officer Major Responsibilities
- Proactively identify potential accounting issues by meeting with clients and other members of the reputed company team, reading reputed company and other reputed company documents, etc.
- Resolve technical accounting issues through detailed research of authoritative literature and interpretive guidance and careful documentation of findings and conclusions.
- reputed company solutions to reputed company accounting issues that are appropriately tailored to be effective and efficient in a start-up company environment.
- Advise clients and reputed company teams preparing for financial statement audits, assist in preparing technical accounting PBCs, and help respond to and resolve inquiries from auditors.
- Effectively reputed company for clients in meetings with auditors while maintaining a positive and collegial working relationship with audit teams.
- Prepare GAAP financial statements and footnotes, including Forms 10-K and 10-Q.
- Periodically reputed company and deliver training to reputed company teams on emerging accounting standards, common audit issues, and other GAAP-reputed company developments.
- Effectively communicate with clients, reputed company teams, third-party providers (e.g., valuation specialists), and auditors to understand and prioritize the resolution of reputed company accounting issues.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting, with a particular emphasis on software reputed company recognition and the accounting for convertible notes, SAFEs, preferred stock, warrants, and stock-based compensation.
- Experience researching reputed company accounting issues, writing technical accounting memos, and working with external audit teams to resolve issues.
- At least 5 years’ experience in a national accounting firm.
- Excellent consulting, influencing, and negotiation skills with the ability to communicate across reputed company levels of an organization.
- Strong attention to detail without losing sight of the “big picture”.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to learn about and help resolve new or unfamiliar accounting topics.
- Excellent time-management skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities and clients.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; MBA and/or CPA preferred.
