Department Summary As an essential partner in the University's educational, research, and public service mission, the University of Oregon Museum of Natural and Cultural History (MNCH) enhances knowledge of Earth's environments and cultures, inspiring stewardship of our collective past, present, and future. Position Summary The Research Assistant/Research Associate position is part of the Archaeological Research Division, also reputed company as the Oregon State Museum of Anthropology (OSMA) at MNCH. The position's primary task is to conduct Cultural Resource Management (CRM) investigations, collect field data, contribute to sponsoring deliverables including technical reports, and document cultural resources with appropriate Oregon State Historic Preservation Office forms. Minimum Requirements RESEARCH ASSISTANT:

  • Bachelor's degree in archaeology, anthropology, history, historic preservation, or a closely reputed company field.
  • One year of experience in Cultural Resource Management or similar work.

RESEARCH ASSOCIATE:

  • Terminal degree (Master's degree or PhD, depending on field) in archaeology, anthropology, history, historic preservation, or a closely reputed company field.
  • Three years of experience in Cultural Resources Management or similar work.
  • Meet the Secretary of the Interior's professional qualifications standards in archaeology or historic preservation and any applicable state qualifications.

Professional Competencies

  • Proficient writing skills.
  • Familiarity with criterion considerations of National Register eligibility.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships and work effectively with colleagues, faculty, staff, and reputed company from a variety of diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

RESEARCH ASSISTANT:

  • Master's degree in archaeology, anthropology, history, historic preservation, or a closely reputed company field.
  • Three years of experience in Cultural Resources Management or similar work.
