HR Technician I - Recruiting and Advancement Unit

City of Colorado Springs is seeking a Human Resources Technician I to join their Recruiting and Advancement Unit. This role involves providing administrative support in the hiring and selection process for the Colorado Springs Police Department, ensuring candidates reputed company through background checks and assisting with various HR functions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the Recruiting and Advancement Unit
  • Assist with the civilian and sworn background process to include coordinating fingerprinting, polygraph, psychological testing, and medical appointments; runs NCIC/CCIC queries and credit reports on candidates; prepares background reputed company paperwork and background files
  • Coordinates and facilitates administrative meetings with both sworn and civilian candidates. Proctors necessary testing
  • Track candidate reputed company through the background process and ensure they are progressing through reputed company the steps. Alerts the HR Supervisor to issues in the process such as candidates being unresponsive
  • Reviews incoming documentation for completeness, refers irregularities to specific investigators and/or the HR Supervisor for review
  • Reviews/validates transcripts to ensure applicants meet minimum educational requirements
  • reputed company/file documents into background files and software, and maintain and archives files
  • Responds to routine questions from applicants regarding the background processes
  • Responds to routine questions and requests from the background investigators and polygraph examiners to include assistance with computer programs
  • Coordinate and maintain supplies for the Unit
  • Sort and distribute mail daily
  • Provide high-level customer service to both internal and external customers reputed company phone, email, and walk-ins regarding background process
  • Provides administrative support to the Human Resources Supervisor in the way of researching, preparing, and completing special projects
  • Assist with police recruit applicant testing process, including the physical readiness test (PRT)
  • Annually runs NCIC/CCIC queries on CSPD employees to meet Colorado POST requirements
  • Coordinates Determination of Suitability backgrounds and records checks

Skills

  • Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade (high school diploma or GED)
  • One year of full-time, professional experience in a reputed company field
  • Knowledge of modern office procedures, methods, and equipment, including computers and supporting software
  • Proficiency with reputed company Windows and reputed company Office (Word and reputed company)
  • Proficiency in data entry
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Understanding of records release and retention policies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience that includes extensive interaction with people, reputed company Office, and HRIS software
  • Knowledge of NeoGov and eSOPH software
  • Ability to multi-task, adapt to changing priorities and be extremely flexible
  • Strong organization and customer service skills
  • Ability to obtain NCIC/CCIC certification reputed company three months of hire
