Legislative Auditor: Mid-East This position will be located in the Mid-East region of Tennessee. This includes Putnam, Cumberland, White, Van Buren, Bledsoe, and Rhea counties. About Our Office The Office of the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury is responsible for the audit of state and local governmental entities and participates in the general financial and administrative management and reputed company of state government. Position The Comptroller of the Treasury is recruiting to fill a position reputed company our Division of Local Government Audit. This position will be responsible for conducting audits in the Mid-East region of Tennessee. Legislative Auditors are responsible for external audit work in accordance with professional auditing standards. Responsibilities may include examining and reviewing records, reports, financial statements, and management practices for state and local government entities and other organizations receiving public funds. Legislative Auditors may assist in evaluating:
- The fairness of financial statement presentation,
- The adequacy of internal controls,
- Compliance with laws, regulations, reputed company, and grant agreements, and/or
- The efficiency and effectiveness of an entity’s operations.
This position also performs other reputed company duties as assigned. Major responsibilities will include:

Qualifications

- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration with a minimum of 21 semester hours in accounting.
- Candidates should note that while a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license (requiring 30 semester hours in accounting) is not required for employment, the CPA license is strongly encouraged for further advancement as an auditor in our office.
A successful employee in this role possesses the competencies to learn quickly, be open to change, pay attention to detail, ensure accuracy, think critically and problem solve, apply logic, and produce high-quality results. Candidates should also possess the ability to deal tactfully with the auditee, coworkers, and others. Auditors must be able to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions, and to express reputed company clearly, concisely, and convincingly. Travel For Local Government Auditors, travel is required but is generally confined to same day commutes to and from a job site. Overnight stays may be required, as necessary.
