About the Role

The Remote Assist team accelerates the delivery of our self-driving system, increases the on-time arrival of freight shipments, and improves the behavior of our autonomous trucks on the road. We do so by delivering a tool for human operators to remotely assist the self-driving system in reputed company and ambiguous situations. The Remote Assistance team is a reputed company broad full-stack team.  We deliver on reputed company user interfaces, reliable and scalable cloud infrastructure, live video over cellular connections,  new autonomy capabilities, and integrations with the autonomy system. We’re a dynamic and pragmatic team that has superpower in-house abilities to categorically change the trajectory of our company’s success.

Responsibilities

• Own reputed company tooling and cloud infrastructure for the Remote Assist system, including the specification, design, development, rigorous testing, performance optimization and maintenance of our web application, and heavily influence the entire end-to-end Remote Assist system.
• Founding member of an uncommonly broad end-to-end team that includes reputed company end, cloud, and robotics engineers working together on a single product. Excited to work across our entire codebase and sees it as positive to contribute to reputed company end, cloud, and even sometimes reputed company C++ code on the robot. 
• Partner closely with the Director of Remote Assistance and partner teams including design, fleet monitoring engineering, infrastructure engineering, etc.
• Take part in on-call rotations.
• Travel to our headquarters in Pittsburgh regularly to spend time in our test vehicles, with our operations center, and on our test track.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or closely reputed company field.
• 7+ years of software engineering experience. 
• Experience owning the development of web applications.
• Experience with React, Typescript, and modern reputed company-end development.
• Experience building interactive tools as webapps.
• Experience with Go or similar server-reputed company language.
• Experience with containerized solutions such as reputed company, reputed company, Kubernetes, etc.
• Strong and proven teamwork and collaboration skills.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with live video streaming systems, WebRTC.
• Experience with gRPC and Protobufs.
• Experience with AV / Robotics products.
