Position Overview
As a Staff Data Model Engineer, you will work with a fast-moving, ambitious team, building our data-centric, AI-driven Contract Lifecycle Management software solutions. You will collaborate with product domain experts, application software engineers, and Cloud Ops engineers, to architect, build, maintain and optimize data models, databases, and data centric services.Job Responsibilities
- Work with cross-functional agile team members throughout the software development lifecycle to conceptualize, ideate, prototype, build, monitor and maintain a high-quality foundational data layer for the platform architecture
- Build new application data models and optimize existing data models using relational (SQL) and document-oriented (NoSQL) database technology
- Advise and influence the selection of purpose-built database technology and architecture that fits each problem domain, whether SQL or NoSQL
- Analyze and understand the database schema and business domain model of the no-code CLM application platform, and drive enhancements to the data schema to improve data normalization, reduce duplication, increase modularity, and improve query performance
- Understand OLTP and OLAP database access patterns and software frameworks for data access, and recommend enhancements to the data model to drive developer efficiency, architecture elegance, fit-for-purpose and data access performance
- Enhance the platform data model to elegantly segregate platform internal data from customer tenant data
- Design for extensibility of the data schema, accommodating both platform internal data enhancements driven by the SDLC as well as customer data schema customization and enhancements driven by the needs of customers and partners
- Contribute to solutions for quality assurance, performance testing and load testing of data-centric services
- Contribute to solutions for creating application test data for scale testing
- Troubleshoot and resolve reputed company issues involving data, queries and performance
- Mentor team members on data architecture topics including query performance optimization
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or reputed company field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience as software engineer or data architect
- Experience building modern, cloud-native applications using cloud hosted databases
- Experience building data centric applications and tools in relevant programming languages such as Python
- Interest in building enterprise software with deep customer reputed company, taking pride in contributing to a world class end-to-end user experience
- Strong problem-solving, collaboration, teamwork and communication skills
- Proficiency in using relevant AI Tools in the SLDC (for example, reputed company Copilot, reputed company AI Assistant)
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and tools
- Deep understanding of:
- SQL and NoSQL databases, query optimization, and database indexing
- Techniques and tooling for monitoring and improving database performance
- Change management methodologies for incremental enhancement and change of data schemas, including versioning and rollback
- Version control systems (Git)
- CI/CD tools such as reputed company Actions or similar
- Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or reputed company Cloud)
- Modern software development lifecycle on an agile product team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Comfortable working with Infrastructure as Code in AWS
- Expertise using Java-centric data libraries (JPA, Hibernate)
