Job Summary of FedEx Freight Receiving Clerk: Efficiently moving and processing cargo within a FedEx facility will constitute your primary role as a FedEx Freight Receiving Clerk. This means taking charge of shipments, ensuring their accurate handling, sorting, loading, and unloading. Responsibilities of FedEx Freight Receiving Clerk: • Execute the transfer of cargo with precise motorized and manual equipment, such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, and forklifts. • Review the freight's documentation, including type, weight, and hazardous materials, to ensure consistency with up-to-date electronic or manual records. • Take the necessary measures to prevent damage to transported goods by using proper tools and equipment, such as ropes, pallets, and straps to secure them. • Restoring or repairing damaged cargo without delay can avert any additional losses. • Thorough checking and attestation of reports and documents are helpful in avoiding errors and misinterpretation of information. • Give aid to clients in the proper documentation of their freight for shipment. • Be willing to perform hostling duties if necessary. • Always act in accordance with both legal regulations and company policies and procedures. • Perform whatever tasks are necessary. Qualification of FedEx Freight Receiving Clerk: • High school diploma or equivalent, preferred. • Must be at least 18 years of age. • Prior experience in warehousing, freight handling and/or fork lift operations preferred. • If hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferred. • Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator. • Basic written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week, to lift dock plates weighing approximately 100 pounds, and to open trailer doors requiring approximately 75 pounds of lift force, up to several times per day or more. • Ability to bend, twist, squat, pushing/pulling freight throughout shift. • Ability to work independently and/or as a team member. • Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred. Working Condition of FedEx Freight Receiving Clerk: • Environmental factors such as harsh weather conditions, toxic fumes, dust particles, excessive noise levels, and vehicular exhaust emissions impact the dock's safety and health standards. • Variations in working hours may occur due to the needs of the operating procedures. • Consistent correspondence with representatives from the service center; high-tempo, deadline-driven.
