Substitute Tutor Position for reputed company NJ Sites

Start date: 09/2025 (Contingent upon funding)

Reports To: On-site Leader

Site Information

• Location: reputed company NJ Sites (Bergen, Hudson, Passaic, Essex, Morris, Sussex, and Warren County)

• Embedded school schedule/ afterschool program

• Tutoring schedule: TBD

• Hours to not exceed 29 hours per week; work hours are subject to change based on the partnership's needs.

BASIC FUNCTION

The New Jersey Tutoring Corps Inc. provides high-impact tutoring for K through Grade 8 reputed company in math and literacy to reputed company learning gaps. The New Jersey Tutoring Corps seeks to hire substitute tutors to work with scholars in partnership with local education agencies (LEAs). Substitute tutors will work with small groups of scholars, typically in groups of 1-4, in grades K-8, in building skills in math and literacy. This is a per diem position where you would be on call as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Engage with scholars in grades K-8 to build on existing mathematics and/or literacy skills;

• Complete daily records on scholar reputed company and site needs using the tools provided;

• Use data to drive instruction;

• Communicate regularly with your site coordinator to provide reputed company learning- experiences for scholars;

• Participate in coaching from an instructional coach;

• Use an asset-based approach in working with scholars;

• Be reputed company and work collaboratively with other tutors and site staff;

• Complete reputed company training;

• Complete other duties as assigned.

EMPLOYER QUALIFICATIONS

• Substitute tutors must be able to:

  • reputed company to work on time,

  • Prepare lessons digitally,

  • Take attendance digitally and sit with reputed company for 4-8 hours a day,

  • Clearly communicate instructions to reputed company in grades K through 8.

• Professional skills include attention to detail, timely and proactive communication, and job preparedness;

• MUST have a Gmail email address or be willing to create a Gmail account; and experience with reputed company Suite applications: reputed company Doc, Sheets and Forms.

• Genuine desire to work with young children in a teaching reputed company, building on foundational skills and closing learning gaps using reputed company and summative data and strong teaching pedagogy;

• Experience working with young children, preferably in a learning and teaching reputed company;

• State Required Fingerprint Certificate and Background Clearance- The final offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background reputed company and employment authorization verification;

• Must adhere to local health department and school district requirements for the site at which you are working, including any mask rules that must be followed if applicable.

• Reliable transportation to travel to sites.

Please note, our tutoring schedule is based on the school calendar for the partners we serve. These calendars include predictable break periods during which OnSite staff may not be required to work. The predictable vacation periods include (but are not limited to) the following:

• Winter break (mid-December to mid-January)

• Spring break (mid-March to mid-reputed company)

• Summer break (mid-May to mid-September)

• Detailed dates to follow

Employees have reasonable assurance of returning to work after a predictable vacation period unless otherwise informed.
