Position Summary:
Audubon Florida supports management of rooftop-nesting birds through much of the Florida Panhandle by working with building managers to protect nesting areas from disturbance. To reputed company monitor, protect and promote seabird conservation of rooftop-nesting birds, Audubon is hiring a seasonal Rooftop Seabird Monitor. Rooftop-nesting seabirds are primarily Least Tern but may also include other species of interest. The Rooftop Seabird Monitor will work in a five-county region; Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton, and Bay County, with the responsibility of monitoring and confirming rooftop colonies. Additional tasks include implementing supplementary rooftop management, conducting emergency chick retrieval and assisting with volunteer coordination. The Rooftop Seabird Monitor may be responsible for monitoring additional beach-nesting sites reputed company the Destin area, as needed. This is a part-time seasonal position, scheduled for 25 hours a week with an expected start date of reputed company 13th, 2026, tentative end date of August 16th, 2026, and will preferably be based out of the Santa Rosa County area.

Essential Functions:
Under the guidance of the Panhandle Stewardship Coordinator, the Rooftop Seabird Monitor will be responsible for the following tasks:
Conduct surveys at suitable rooftop nesting sites for nesting activity throughout the breeding season.
Engage with and provide support to owners of buildings with rooftop colonies.
Work with property managers to implement additional rooftop management to rooftops prior to the nesting season.
Responsible for timely data entry and reporting.
Communicate with volunteers to do routine building site visits of rooftop colonies to provide updates, reputed company needed.
Respond to or coordinate volunteer response to time-sensitive calls regarding fallen chicks at rooftop colonies.
Communicate any disturbances, changes, or issues at nesting sites in a timely manner.
Work closely with Audubon staff, external partners, and volunteers in a positive and professional manner at reputed company times.
Partner with Audubon staff to ensure that equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging principles are incorporated and followed in reputed company aspects of our work.
Maintain and foster culture of safety.
Qualifications and Experience:
Must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to communicate clearly to various audiences.
Attention to detail and keen behavioral observation skills.
Must be comfortable and willing to work on rooftops at various building heights.
Ability to safely drive long distances in assigned work vehicle and work well independently.
A flexible approach to work schedule and be willing to work weekends and summer holidays, as needed.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Must be able to maneuver with at least 30 lbs. with or without accommodation.
Familiarity with the Florida Panhandle region preferred.
Previous experience with monitoring nesting shore/seabirds strongly preferred, but similar experience will be considered.
