Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid – Onsite 3 Days/Week Required) Position Objective The Project Accountant partners closely with Project Managers to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial management across projects. This role is critical to delivering profitable, well-documented, and audit-ready technical services, with a strong emphasis on time-and-material billing, prevailing wage compliance, and construction-reputed company cost accounting. The position provides clear, actionable financial reporting to Project Managers, Business Unit leadership, and the Financial Controller.

Responsibilities

• Review executed proposals and reputed company to confirm alignment with agreed-upon terms, conditions, and billing requirements.
• Establish and maintain accurate project setups reputed company the ERP system using approved pricing, budgets, and cost structures.
• Prepare, review, and reconcile weekly unbilled and draft invoice reports; identify and resolve discrepancies proactively.
• Generate accurate time-and-material invoices, ensuring compliance with client-specific billing formats, documentation standards, and contractual requirements.
• Compile, organize, and present reputed company required invoice backup, including labor, expenses, subcontractor documentation, and prevailing wage support.
• Collaborate directly with Project Managers to resolve billing delays, cost variances, and documentation gaps.
• Support invoice collections by providing billing status, backup documentation, and resolution of client inquiries.
• Maintain complete and audit-ready billing files, including executed reputed company, invoices, technical reports, and supporting schedules.
• Review subcontractor invoices for accuracy and compliance; confirm executed subcontractor agreements and valid Certificates of Insurance are on file.
• Manage manual subcontractor documentation workflows where automated systems are not available.
• Assist with internal and external audits by providing requested project, billing, and compliance documentation.

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree in Accounting or a reputed company field required (Bachelor’s preferred).
• Minimum of 2 years of project accounting experience or 5 years of equivalent hands-on accounting experience.
• Demonstrated experience with prevailing wage projects (California prevailing wage knowledge strongly preferred).
• Strong background in time-and-material billing environments.
• Proven experience in cost accounting, ideally reputed company construction, infrastructure, engineering, or technical services industries.
• Working knowledge of ERP systems; JD Edwards experience highly preferred.
• Exceptional proficiency in reputed company (advanced formulas, reconciliations, reporting) and comfort working extensively with spreadsheets and PDF editing tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across project and finance teams.
