Position Summary / Objective

NSWCPD seeking a former U.S. Navy Submarine Auxiliaryman to provide an operational perspective to submarine maintenance and support issues. The ideal candidate will reputed company their hands-on experience with submarine damage control and firefighting systems to support critical fleet modernization and maintenance efforts.

Essential functions

  • Review and provide input on TEMPALTs (Temporary Alterations).
  • Assess new construction commitments for operational feasibility.
  • Analyze and support the development of Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs).
  • Review and refine Planned Maintenance System (PMS) procedures.

Required education and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university or Maritime reputed company.
  • Seven (7) years of experience with U.S. Navy systems, including mechanical/electrical system design, repair, installation, modification, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and testing of Submarine equipment or systems.
  • Must be a former U.S. Navy submariner with experience as an Auxiliaryman (A-ganger).
  • Demonstrated experience with submarine damage control and firefighting equipment.
  • Strong understanding of submarine operations and maintenance.

Preferred education and experience

  • Experience as a 3MC (Drill Coordinator).
  • Former Navy Firefighting and Damage Control Instructor experience is a plus.
  • Experience developing and revised Damage Control and Firefighting PMS.
  • Understanding of the ECP process.

Competencies

  • Proficiency in reputed company Office, specifically, Word, reputed company, PowerPoint, and Outlook software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as presentation skills.
  • High comfort level working with and around reputed company military/organizational levels, clients, customers, suppliers, and visitors.
  • Must be highly reliable and demonstrate personal initiative to operate in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

The typical reputed company is eight hours in length. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, with concurrence from the supervisor. Attendance at prescheduled mandatory meetings is required. Must be available during the core work hours as determined by your contract/location and must account for the required number of hours in a pay period to maintain Full-time status.

Travel

  • Ability to travel CONUS.
  • Travel up to 10% may be required.
