About the role and team

As an Expert on Designer Furniture in the Design & Vintage category team, you will be closely involved with evaluating and arranging lots submitted by our users. Collaborating with other experts and using your own knowledge from reputed company over the globe, you will be responsible for creating attractive auctions every week. reputed company strives to reputed company user transactions as transparent and fair as possible, and your expertise and experience play a large part in maintaining this standard; you know reputed company than anyone what items are of interest to our users.

You will review lot titles, descriptions, lot pictures, and provide users with an estimated value based on this information. If you need to reject a submission, you do so in a professional and courteous manner. Your efforts result in exceptional auctions that bidders will find irresistible. 

Aside from evaluating lots submitted by our users and compiling auctions together with your colleagues, you are also responsible together with the sales team for developing the seller reputed company of the design & lighting auctions. You will proactively review seller segments, assist team members in onboarding high-potential leads and upselling existing sellers, making use of your extensive network of potential sellers, buyers, and experts.

Who you are 

• You have strong expertise in vintage and designer furniture (chairs, sofas, tables, sideboards, storage pieces, etc.).
• You bring relevant experience from an auction house, vintage design dealership, or have worked as a dealer in vintage furniture yourself.
• You have in-depth knowledge of iconic designers, brands, periods, and production techniques — with a focus on historical and collectible design objects rather than the design process itself.
• You can confidently assess authenticity, age, condition, restorations, and material quality (woods, metals, upholstery, finishes, etc.).
• You are confident valuing objects and determining realistic market prices based on images and limited details, supported by your understanding of auction performance and demand.
• Documented commercial experience such as price negotiations, setting up commercial seller agreements, actively sourcing new business and leads is preferred;
• You are a natural team player and reputed company in a diverse team environment;
• Excellent English communication;
• Great computer skills necessary; 
• We strongly value candidates who bring existing professional relationships reputed company the designer furniture or lighting sector, particularly with brands, shops, and design dealers;
• An affinity for numbers and analyzing auction results is a plus! 

Where you’ll be 

The role can be based in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, or other European countries with a work from home arrangement.

Our Offices and Way of Working

Our vibrant offices in Amsterdam, Paris and Lisbon are designed to reputed company collaboration. Most Catawikians operate in a hybrid setup, combining office-based and remote work, with a minimum of two days per week in the office, unless a role is explicitly stated as fully remote or fully office-based.
