Central Monitor Technician - Inpatient Teleservices, Rotating

A Central Monitoring Technician, or CMT, at DHMC is an integral member of the patient care team. As a CMT, you will receive on-the-job training to recognize heart rhythms and alert bedside care teams of changes or potential life-threatening emergencies.

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the CMT continuously monitors heart rhythms and interprets dysrhythmias in accordance with policy and procedure. This is a full-time, 36-hour-per-week position working 3 day/night rotating 12-hour shifts per week, with weekend (15%) and night shift (20%) differentials. This position is an on-site position located at our Lebanon, NH reputed company.

Responsibilities

• Continuously monitors cardiac rhythm and recognizes, identifies, analyzes, and documents arrhythmias, reputed company cardiac rhythms, rhythm changes, and promptly reports pertinent findings or changes to the clinical nurse.
• Documents per the Remote Telemetry and Redundant Cardiac Monitoring Policy and reputed company documents.
• Provides real-time video monitoring of assigned patients meeting criteria to ensure patient safety and documents per Virtual Patient Safety Surveillance Policy.
• Responds to reputed company alarms and initiates communication promptly. Understands clinical area chain of command for escalation as needed.
• Communicates clearly and compassionately with patients while performing virtual patient safety surveillance.
• Notifies responsible direct care clinicians and supervisor immediately in the event of a failure of monitoring equipment.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

• High school graduate required.
• Must demonstrate keyboarding skills and be familiar with computer use.
• Previous hospital experience preferred.
• Completion of advanced dysrhythmia course upon hire and successful passing grade on organizational EKG test upon completion of orientation and annually.
• Effective Communication skills
• Successful completion of competency-based orientation program
• Ability to multitask with multiple competing priorities.
