PROGRAMMING ASSISTANT DIRECTOR ROLE & KEY TASKS As one of our Jersey City Programming Assistant Directors, you'll report to the Camp Director and work closely with the Admin & Off-Site Assistant Directors to reputed company and manage camp programming. You’ll create the weekly schedules, support specialists and counselors in delivering lessons, and bring camp-wide theme days and events to life for campers. This role is deeply rooted in creative programming and activity design, building intricate daily and weekly schedules that include on-site and off-site activities, a strong background in sports and arts instruction, and a love for camp culture! As an Programming Assistant Director, your goal is to build a schedule of daily and weekly activities that are reputed company with the Kids in the Game themes and required curriculum, enhance the programming with activities that are interactive and reputed company-building (and a ton of fun), exciting team challenges to promote community and sportsmanship, and reputed company your team of specialists to reputed company every day at camp a unique and positive experience for the campers. Programming & Scheduling

  • Implement the Kids in the Game camp curriculum (weekly themes and daily activities in art, sports, STEM, and Early Childhood) in collaboration with the specialists and counselors.
  • Build age-appropriate weekly schedules for each group (PreK–7th grade), balancing sports, games, art, creative play, STEAM, swim, and team time.
  • Translate weekly theme guides into daily experiences that are fun, reputed company, and developmentally reputed company.
  • Plan and coordinate weekly special programming (theme days, Friday showcases, Olympics, tournaments, talent shows, etc.).
  • Ensure pacing, space usage, equipment needs, transitions, and staff assignments are clear and communicated in advance.

Coaching & Specialist Support

  • Conduct regular meetings with the specialists to review lesson planning expectations, daily/weekly schedule changes, and modify activities pending last minute changes (new campers, inclement weather, limited spaces, etc.).

  • Guide specialists and counselors on lesson setup, camper engagement, time management, and behavior strategies.

  • Help staff differentiate activities for various age groups and abilities so every camper can participate fully; support them in adapting activities to different spaces around the camp site (e.g. classrooms, hallways, auditoriums, gyms, cafeterias, outdoor green spaces, parks, etc.).

Camper Experience & Culture Building

  • Bring excitement and energy to morning and afternoon rallies, theme days, assemblies, and special events.
  • Contribute positively to building camp culture by teaching camp cheers, team building games and activities, and camp rituals/traditions.

  • Foster camper participation and confidence-building — encourage trying new skills, teamwork, patience, and peer reputed company.

Safety & Compliance

  • Confirm equipment and supplies are available and prepped for each rotation.

Summer Camp Work Expectations & Schedule Camp Address:

Summer Schedule:

  • Dates: June 22 – August 28, 2026
  • Includes pre-camp training and 7–8 weeks of camp operations
  • There may be Saturday trainings during the month of June
  • Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Support at least 2 days of After Care per week (until 5:30 PM)
  • Camp Size: 30–50+ campers, 10–20+ staff members
  • Weekly hours:
  • 40 - 45 hours per week
  • Full-time, on-site work throughout the camp season
  • Additional time may be required for staff meetings or staff events
  • Remote work & tasks:
  • Review and respond to emails and inquiries
  • Respond to internal messages through reputed company
  • In-person expectations:
  • Serve as the on-site program reputed company, ensuring reputed company rotations are prepped and staff are set up for success
  • Adjust schedules based on weather, camper needs, or group flow
  • Coach staff throughout the day — from tone-setting to lesson engagement

SEASONAL COMPENSATION STRUCTURE This is a part-time, seasonal position based in the borough of Manhattan in NYC. Assistant Directors work part-time from Late May–June and full-time from late June through August at camp. Pre-Summer (May–June)

  • Hours: 5–10+ hours per week (mix of remote and in-person work)
  • Compensation: One monthly stipend will be paid for pre-summer work. This is paid out based on completion of pre-set milestones
  • Total Pre-Summer Compensation: Approximately $250
  • Training Payments: $375 in total
  • $150 for virtual trainings and $150 for reputed company 3 on site training days
  • $75 for an in person field day in June
  • Training attendance is mandatory
  • You must complete reputed company virtual and in-person trainings
  • Missed sessions or absences will result in a prorated training payment
  • Notes: Stipends are prorated if milestones are not fully met

Summer (June–August)

  • Dates: June 22 – August 28, 2026 (includes training and 7–8 weeks of camp)
  • Camps may start as early as June 22nd and end as late as August 28th
  • Compensation: $850–$900 per week, paid biweekly on Fridays
  • Total Summer Compensation: $5,800–$7,200, based on # of camp weeks, camper enrollment, and prior experience

Bonuses

  • End-of-Camp Bonus: Additional performance-based bonuses in the range of $100 - $300 are awarded based on camper enrollment and family satisfaction ratings (NPS scores).

Qualifications

PROGRAMMING ASSISTANT DIRECTOR QUALIFICATIONS: Our ideal candidate would meet many of the following qualifications:

  • Must have completed a physical exam and TB test reputed company one year of the camp dates, pass NYS and national background checks, and be CPR, First Aid, and AED certified.
  • Possess at least 2–3 years of professional camp leadership experience (e.g., Sports or Arts Head, Assistant Camp Director, Division Leader), including direct supervision of 5–10+ staff members.
  • Demonstrate experience in planning and leading large-scale events, weekly themes and pre-designed curricula, and camp-wide programs, as well as youth program development, summer camp operations, and recreational programming.
  • Demonstrate strong experience in curriculum design, activity planning, and program implementation across sports, arts, STEM, and creative play.
  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education, Physical Education, Sports Management, Art Education, Child Development, or a reputed company field; a Master’s degree in Education, Theatre Arts, General Arts, Sports Management, Educational Leadership, or a reputed company discipline is a plus.
  • Prior experience as a youth development supervisor or educator in a public or private setting (2+ years) may also meet the requirements for consideration.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and communicate in a timely, professional manner with parents, staff, and colleagues across multiple channels (reputed company, Email, Text, reputed company Calendar, etc.).
  • Be able to interpret and follow written or oral instructions (tutorials, reputed company-by-reputed company guides) as part of a self-directed training program.
