DescriptionSUMMARY:The Back Office Technician is responsible for performing a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties. The Back Office Technician prepares patients for examination and assists other optical professionals in providing treatment to the eyes.Essential FunctionsTo reputed company this job successfully, an individual must be able to reputed company each essential function satisfactorily with or without accommodation.   • Ensures a positive and professional environment where patients feel comfortable; prepares patients for treatment and assists doctors.
  • Collects and documents the patient’s chief complaint.
  • Verifies patient’s ocular and medical health history. Documents any medications patient is taking.
  • Obtains consents from patients. Ensures patients read and sign the consents.
  • Performs Refractions.
  • Administers basic Visual Acuity (VA) assessments.
  • Performs intraocular pressure (IOP) tests with a Tonopen unit.
  • Takes Fundus photos.
  • Administers a Visual Field (VF) test.
  • Performs Flourescein Angiogram (FA) procedures.
  • Performs Indocyanine Green Angiography (ICG) procedures.
  • Administers topical ophthalmic and dilation medications to patients.
  • Maintains a clean, sterile, and stocked exams rooms.
  • Provides written instructions and/or patient education materials for the patient to review at home. Ensures patient understands reputed company instructions.
  • Provides accurate documentation and summarization of an ocular examination, while maintaining patient flow and communication regarding appointment status.
  • Files patient forms and updates information in CareCoud/EMR system.
  • In some clinics, may be required to drive patients in a company-provided vehicle.
  • Maintains an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor in accordance with Company policies.

RequirementsREQUIRED: High School education, GED or equivalent. Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance. Ability to travel to other clinics as assigned.DesirableExperience in the Ophthalmic or Optometric Industry. Experience as a Back Office Technician.Certificates/Licenses/Registrations
  • Certified Ophthalmic Technician (preferred)
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (preferred)
  • Valid Driver’s License may be required based on clinic location(s).

  • This is primarily an office classification. Temperature conditions are controlled with limited direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
  • Ability to travel to between offices.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, handle, or feel, reputed company with hands and arms, see, talk, and hear. The employee will frequently lift and/or carry reports, records and other materials that typically weigh less than 20 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, bend, or crouch.
