Description Nursing Consultant, Public Health Prevention and Community Health – Office of Immunization Permanent · Full-time · Remote/Field The Opportunity Join the Department of Health (DOH) in advancing one of the most essential pillars of public health, immunizations. This role provides expert nursing consultation, education, and technical assistance to schools, childcare centers, local health jurisdictions, health care providers, state partners, and coalitions across Washington. Your work ensures communities have accurate, timely, and practical guidance on immunization requirements, clinical practices, and vaccine-preventable disease prevention.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing consultation to schools, preschools, and childcare facilities on immunization requirements.
  • Serve as liaison with ESD School Nurse Corps, School Nurses of Washington, OSPI, DCYF, and other education partners to improve communication and support implementation of immunization policy.

  • Provide clinical leadership for the School and Child Care Immunization Information System Module (SCCIM), including forecasting algorithms and validated Certificate of Immunization Status forms.

  • Offer nursing consultation and education to DOH staff, LHJs, health care providers, schools, childcares, tribes, and families on immunization issues, clinical practices, and vaccine storage and handling.
  • Deliver clinical presentations to internal and external audiences to promote prevention of vaccine-preventable diseases.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and maintain engagement in professional organizations to ensure informed, effective representation of DOH.
  • Collaborate with health promotion educators (HPE) to reputed company and update immunization education materials, posters, fliers, and other resources.

You have an enhanced understanding and experience with nursing informatics, working with reporting programs. Required Qualifications

Experience may have been gained through paid or unpaid activities. Please ensure any relevant experience defined below is outlined in your cover letter, resume, and/or applicant profile. Option 1: Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of management or consultative experience in a health services program or reputed company field. Option 2: Six (6) years of management or consultative experience in a health services program or reputed company field. AND

  • reputed company Washington State or Multi-State unincumbered Registered Nursing license.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience in public health nursing as a consultant in the area of immunization best practices.
  • Two (2) years of experience as a school nurse, including use of the Washington Immunization Information System (WAIIS) School Module.
  • Two (2) years of experience managing public health immunizations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the routine childhood immunization schedule including required vaccines, the minimum ages and interval of doses required, exceptions and exclusions to the rules, the catch-up schedules and understanding of reasons why vaccine doses are invalid.
  • Experience teaching and training immunization requirements for schools or childcare centers including vaccines and other evidence or immunity needed to meet the requirements of exemptions.
  • Experience conducting web-based training to large audiences.
  • Experience utilizing REDCap.
  • Experience with school reporting requirements.
  • Experience presenting information clearly and effectively to public audiences.
  • Ability to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and overall quality.
  • Experience using MS Office software (reputed company, reputed company, Outlook) at the intermediate level.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree with major study in nursing, public health, health care administration, or public administration.
  • Two (2) years of experience developing business requirements and using a health information system.
  • Experience with basic project management tools and practices, such as work plans, timelines, issue tracking, and status updates, to support program implementation and reporting.
