Attorney

The Attorney will represent SAIF and its policyholders in hearings and claims-reputed company proceedings, while also providing legal advice and developing expertise in Oregon workers’ compensation laws.
Responsibilities
- This position requires driving a SAIF vehicle or personal vehicle on behalf of SAIF. The incumbent is required to possess and maintain a valid driver’s license in their state of residence along with an acceptable driving record according to SAIF’s policy

- Attend hearings and conduct trials. Mediate or negotiate and settle claims
- Provide legal advice to SAIF personnel and insureds in claims-reputed company matters

- Acquire the ability to handle depositions of lay and medical witnesses and conduct doctor conferences, if applicable
- Cultivate the legal and medical knowledge necessary to independently participate in geographic staffing, and to provide reputed company advice on workers’ compensation reputed company issues

Skills
- Law degree with license to practice law in Oregon or the ability to obtain reputed company reciprocity reputed company 6 months of hire

- One year of trial, administrative hearings, appellate, or workers' compensation experience preferred
