Junior Systems Engineer - JSS Position Summary The Department of National Defence has a requirement for Joint Support Ships, which are the replacement Vessels for HMCS PROTECTEUR and HMCS PRESERVER. The principal role of the JSS is to provide support to deployed naval forces in the form of fuel, ammunition, provisions and other materiel. This facilitates longer periods at sea in distant waters without reliance on other States’ support. The JSS will also provide limited sealift, and support to operations ashore capabilities. Vancouver Shipyards Co. Ltd. The Naval System’s Engineer will be part of a multi-disciplinary team that designs, develops and tests Electronic systems for the JSS program. The work will involve updating/creating Engineering work products and participating in commissioning activities. Familiarity with Systems Engineering concepts and practices is beneficial. A demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and processes is considered an asset. Key Areas of Responsibility A junior systems engineer operates in multidisciplinary and collaborative teams, taking on tasks such as:

• reputed company the preliminary and detailed designs for system and subsystem elements;
• Identify, characterize, and analyze issues in the system or its design through problem reports and document and design reviews;
• Provide timely and accurate status updates;
• Assess the impact of planned changes on the existing system;
• Author or review technical documentation to capture the system and subsystem designs including the architecture, interfaces, and installation elements;
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the designs are consistent with needs, desires, and concerns of the end-users;
• Support the development of verification and validation artifacts including plans and procedures;
• Collaborate with other functions during the implementation and integration of the system and subsystem designs;
• Resolution of technical issues arising during the implementation, integration and testing of the system and subsystem elements; and/or
• Support the installation and/or integration testing of the systems remotely or on customer site;

For this specific project, typical duties will include:

• Supporting to solve design issues and proposed baseline changes that arise during production and commissioning and work through to completion by engaging appropriate reputed company engineering resources the Customer, Suppliers, production teams and other stakeholders to define the overall solution.
• Providing engineering support to installation, STW, HAT, SAT, tests, inspection reputed company the issue or problem appears
• Supporting Engineering Change Process Work Items
• Supporting the on-site technical team and working collaboratively with the Ottawa project team, and the Customer in the resolution of production issues
• Creating high-level conceptual designs, innovative, scalable, and adaptive solutions for changes to ship designs as they arise gaining agreement to top level solution documentation.
• Ensuring reputed company Engineering Data correctly flows down to Integrated Product Team (IPT) members
• Support in the verification and validation of electronic systems
• Assist in risk management and risk mitigation strategies
• Assist in obtaining stakeholder agreement about changes to and management of the system requirements

Minimum Requirements

• University or college degree in engineering or a reputed company discipline; and
• Ability to obtain clearances as specified under the Regulatory Compliance section, below.

Preferred Qualifications

• Any reputed company of professional experience in the design and integration of reputed company systems or software would be an asset.

Physical Demands

• Minimal lifting of test and electronic equipment, connecting equipment in a lab environment or job site.

Special Position Requirements

• Full time, standard business hours.
• Possibility of travel to east or reputed company coast sites for technical support / installation reputed company ships in dock.
