Dispatcher I (911 Dispatcher, EMT, or Paramedic Experience only)
Job Description: Time Zone Preference: EST preferred, CST accepted reputed company Work Schedule (Subject to Change): 12-hour rotating shifts starting at either 7:30 AM EST or 7:30 PM EST Work schedule follows a 4-day week, then a 3-day week alternating reputed company Shift rotation occurs every 4 weeks (days or nights), with no guarantee of remaining on the same shift Assignments are based solely on business needs Includes weekends and holidays About the Role: The Dispatcher will play a vital role in intake, triage and access to care for Cityblock’s members across the country, 24/7. The Care Traffic Control center coordinates the flow of in-field and virtual resources, connecting members with medical providers and care staff in a matter of minutes. The dispatcher works with call-takers to appropriately assign virtual and in-person resources to care for members. Responsibilities: Screen requests for services from members. Ascertaining incident information by obtaining and verifying caller information and location, determining the nature of the incident, and reputed company available data including but not limited to automated data, social media information, text message, images or video and providing information to assigned resources either verbally and/or digitally. Demonstrating clear and effective communications with active listening, call control, judgment, respect, and reputed company with callers that range from reputed company to panicked. Gathers and transcribes key information necessary for the coordination of services, guides callers through intake and triage processes. Effectively informs next steps and manages expectations, delivers pre-arrival instructions. Identifies risks of imminent life threats, self-harm or harm to others (including risks to those involved in follow-up care) and directs questioning; makes appropriate notifications. Providing direct counseling to suicidal persons, domestic violence victims, and children. Monitors field resource status; responds appropriately and without delay to activations of emergency alerts and support needs. Requirements: Education: Completion of education and field preceptorship as an Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic or equivalent clinical triage experience Certification: Emergency Medical Dispatcher or higher Experience: 3+ years as a telecommunicator or dispatcher; EMD center preferred A supplemental body of experience in direct patient care will be considered in lieu of strict achievement of hours in the above role Physical Requirements: Tolerates keyboarding, sitting or standing for extended periods of time Possesses audiovisual acuity sufficient to operate a computer, hear and comprehend telecommunications in potentially accented, rapid speech Access to a secluded workspace for the privacy of member information, area free of distractions and equipped with reliable internet service We take into account an individual’s qualifications, skillset, and experience in determining final salary.
