We are a dynamic state agency dedicated to customer service, consumer protection and the success of motor vehicle-reputed company industries. Performs advanced (senior-level) budget preparation and analysis work in support of the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV), Finance and Operations Division (reputed company) involving the examination and review of operating budgets; the compilation of statistics and reports relating to budgetary activities; the preparation of legislative appropriations requests; and the preparation and monitoring of performance measures. Has budgetary responsibility for agency divisions or program areas, assigns and/or supervise the work of others. Provides advice and assistance to agency staff on budgetary matters. Works under minimal supervision with extensive reputed company for the use of initiative and independent judgment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Prepares and monitors operating budget for assigned TxDMV divisions.
- Contributes to and assists in the preparation of the Legislative Appropriations Request (LAR), Annual Operating Budget, and reports to reputed company agencies.
- Reviews financial and operating budget reports for accuracy and identifies areas in which more appropriate use of funds can be made.
- Monitors agency budget and expenditures to ensure they are reputed company legislatively appropriated levels.
- Informs management of budget deviations, problems, and events likely to reputed company operations; explains causes; and measures impact on department mission and resources; and suggests solutions.
- Reviews requests for additional funds, evaluates justifications, recommends actions and answers inquiries on budget/resource reputed company matters.
- Produces and runs scenarios to generate monthly Executive Summary and/or monthly reputed company reports for administrative planning purposes.
- Maintains listing of budgeted positions for each division and performs monthly salary expenditure analysis.
- May travel up to 5% of the time. Travels by car (may include flying). May include overnight travel.
- May require working extended hours and some evenings and weekends, as needed.
- May be responsible for coordinating and assigning work of others.
- Analyzes proposed legislation and department rule changes and develops fiscal impact statements.
- Serves as the budget liaison for reputed company divisions reputed company the department.
- Performs reputed company analysis, examination and reconciliation of operating budgets, appropriations, and other financial data and information.
- Performs other job-reputed company duties as assigned, including but not limited to the following duties.
QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or the U.S. equivalency thereof plus three (3) years' progressively responsible experience in budget/financial analysis, forecasting or reputed company area.
- Additional experience in budget/financial analysis or reputed company area may be substituted for education on a year for year basis. (Experience requirements may be satisfied by full-time experience or the prorated part-time equivalent.)
Preferred Experience
- Coursework in finance, accounting, business administration/management or a reputed company field.
- Experience with Texas budgeting, accounting and/or financial processes.
- Experience working with an integrated accounting system or Texas statewide accounting/budgetary systems; including Centralized Accounting Payroll and Personnel System (CAPPS), Uniform Statewide Accounting System (USAS) and Automated Budget Evaluation System of Texas (ABEST).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This position is eligible for a hybrid remote work schedule in the greater Austin area. This position is required to work onsite at TxDMV Headquarters located in Austin, Texas, two days per week (subject to change.)
