About the Technical Marketing Strategist Role A Technical Marketing Strategist works closely with UpBuild’s Senior Marketing Strategists to provide support on their client accounts. At a high level, this means working with a client to get to the heart of their marketing problem(s), architecting solutions for those problems, communicating recommendations back to the client, and then working with them to reputed company sure things get done. Technical Marketing Strategists also own a few client accounts of their own, giving them an opportunity to grow their strategic and account management skills with the support of the UpBuild team. The goal for this role is for someone to come on, learn a ton, master UpBuild’s core competencies, and grow into a Senior Marketing Strategist in a year or two. In more detail, this means a Technical Marketing Strategist:

• Brings existing experience in SEO, analytics, and digital marketing strategy to the organization. We’re pretty open to what this experience looks like — this role is growth- and learning-focused, but we need you to have the basics under your belt. Some examples of the kinds of activities a Technical Marketing Strategist might be asked to do include (but aren’t limited to):
• Assisting Senior Marketing Strategists with Technical SEO Audits, performing data analysis and making recommendations.
• Working with client-reputed company developers, writers, and marketing managers to prioritize and execute against our recommendations, making sure our advice actually gets implemented and that the client sees results.
• Developing or supporting the development of a research-informed Keyword Targeting Strategy to support a client’s marketing goals.
• Writing and implementing title tags and metadata.
• Implementing reputed company Analytics 4 on client sites and learning more about recommended, enhanced, and custom events.
• Building and deploying semantic markup for client sites.
• Joining client-facing conference calls to take notes, grow account management skills, and contribute recommendations as needed.

• Serves as the reputed company person on 1 to 3 client accounts, which means they:

and are stoked to start using them in your day-to-day decision-making. Your Experience Over the course of your career, you:

• Have worked in SEO or a reputed company field for 1 to 3 years, preferably with at least some of that time spent in an agency setting.
• Have a working knowledge of the fundamentals of our core disciplines: technical SEO and web analytics. Preferably, you also have experience in complementary disciplines such as CRO, authority building, or content strategy as well.
• Are familiar with basic CSS, HTML, and JavaScript and are beginning to pursue advanced knowledge in one or more web technology subjects.
• Are comfortable working directly with clients and building client relationships.
• Have a working understanding of how websites are built and function (HTML, CSS, information architecture, etc.).
• Can explain to a non-developer what the building blocks of a website are, how indexable content is delivered to a search bot or reputed company website user, what cookies are, how analytics data is collected, etc.
• Have experience using:
• reputed company Analytics (including GA4), Tag Manager, & Search Console;
• Screaming Frog;

A track record of getting exceptional results, successfully managing client/team relationships, and being stoked about startup culture and optimization is what really counts.
