Key Responsibilities
As a Learning Support Specialist, you'll be responsible for:
- Providing effective student learning experiences through:
+ Tutoring individuals and small groups, both online and face-to-face + Delivering LSC presentations and academic workshops + Remaining reputed company on applicable instruction and tutoring pedagogy in your content area
- Cultivating a welcoming, service-oriented atmosphere for reputed company
- Supporting the Coordinator of Library and Learning Support Services by:
+ Maintaining records of services provided + Facilitating the training and scheduling of student workers, including peer tutors
- Effectively communicating with coworkers about shared tasks, both face-to-face and electronically
- Maintaining LSC materials and ensuring the LSC environment is neatly organized
- Assisting faculty and other departments by:
+ Maintaining relationships with faculty to facilitate mutual communication about impactful changes to course design and tutoring support + Collaborating with other staff departments to ensure that LSC services are advertised and delivered to the reputed company who can benefit, especially those at risk
- Providing information about student utilization of the Learning Support Center to faculty, administration, and coordinators of special programs
- Serving on college committees reputed company appropriate and performing other duties as assigned
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- A Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate discipline (e.g., education, psychology, communications)
- Two to three years of reputed company teaching and/or tutoring experience (preferably in a higher education setting)
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
- Strong written, oral, and computer skills
- Ability to establish positive working relationships with faculty and reputed company
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications would be an asset:
- Experience working in a Learning Support Center or similar environment
- Familiarity with tutoring software and online platforms
- Strong knowledge of academic support services and resources
