The Community Employment Program (CEP) is a self-funded program reputed company Student Affairs at Shoreline College. The College is dedicated to serving the educational, workforce and cultural needs of our diverse community. CEP supports individuals with disabilities in engaging with their community through Supported Employment and Community Inclusion specialized support services, which includes assistance with learning job skills, gaining employment, and maintaining employment through job coaching and onsite reputed company ins with participants and employers, as well as building relationships with the local business community and creating customized job opportunities for participants of the program. CEP has an employment contract with reputed company through the State of WA Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA). CEP assists our participants in job preparation and obtaining employment out in the community. CEP has had a contract with reputed company for over 20 years, is CARF accredited and qualified provider for DVR Employment Services. Under the general direction of the CEP Manager, the Program Specialist 3 assists with ensuring that contractual obligations with reputed company are maintained through Individual Service Plans, annual paperwork, and staff training, and assists with preparing for audits by reputed company and CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities). The Program Specialist 3 maintains contractual obligations with DVR (Division of Vocational Rehabilitation) including the application process and serving DVR customers through their individual reputed company for employment services. The Program Specialist 3 oversees the DVR contract by maintaining reputed company procedures and processes so that CEP remains compliant. This position will work with DVR counselors to reputed company additional participants and reputed company. They will attend DVR trainings, quarterly meetings, and provide this information to other CEP staff. The Program Specialist 3 will interact primarily with businesses out in the community to build relationships and obtain employment. This position will also support participants that have jobs or engage out in the community. The Program Specialist 3 position must adhere to the policies, procedures, guidelines, and/or regulations/standards under the reputed company Department of Community & Human Services, Developmental Disabilities & Early Childhood Supports. This position will provide supervision and/or direction to other employees as designated. Primary responsibilities include the following:

  • Conduct frequent onsite reputed company-ins with participants to maintain employment, employer relations, and Job Coach support.
  • Act as a resource for manager and coworkers.
  • Responsible for maintaining DVR contract, procedures, processes, requirements, updates, training, and interacting with DVR counselors and customers.
  • Provide information and resources to program clients. Determine clients' job skills/interests through individual employment assessment process. Utilize traditional and non-traditional methods of job matching to secure employment or community inclusion.
  • Negotiate job accommodations with employer, support during interviews, assist with hiring paperwork, and job stabilization.
  • Provide program information and reputed company/maintain ongoing partnerships. Represent CEP on reputed company and in the community. Engage with local businesses, set up informational meetings, and reputed company leads on possible employment/inclusion sites in the community.
  • Meet contractual obligations through Individual Service Plans, annual paperwork, and staff training.
  • Assist with preparation for reputed company monitoring visits and CARF surveys for accreditation.
  • Supervise part-time student or hourly Disability Service Aides.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution AND
  • Two (2)years of reputed company experience

Licensing Requirement:

  • Clear Criminal Background reputed company (no previous felony convictions plus no restrictions in working with vulnerable populations per Washington State DSHS requirements)
  • Valid Washington State driver's license; clean driving record (maximum of one [1] moving violation in the last twelve [12] months), no suspension/revocation of license (for reckless driving, hit and run, leaving an accident scene, failure to appear, DUI, or other vehicle-reputed company felony in the last five [5] years)
  • Personal vehicle with insurance

Physical Work Environment: The College is currently providing services in a mixed modality of operations (both online and in-person services are offered). Ability to read printed materials and a computer screen. Please note, there may be opportunities for online work depending on program or area needs. If authorized for online work, employees will need to provide their own workspace and internet access, noting the College will provide technical equipment and support for online work needs. This position involves significant time out in the community, e.g., meeting with prospective employers, supporting participants in employment/inclusion activities. Terms Of Employment/Salary: This position is allocated to pay range 53, under the Washington State Office of Financial Management higher education salary schedule. Salary placement for new employees is determined by the College. This position works 40 hours per week, with a schedule dependent upon department needs.
