As a Perl developer, you will take ownership of and manage essential systems for one of our major international clients in the fashion sector. You'll be a member of a high-performing, self-motivated team, collaborating with the client while gaining exposure to various layers of their infrastructure.

- The position will involve implementing enhancements through coding, executing data modifications, and supporting the core client platforms.

- Attention to detail is crucial.

- You should be comfortable managing and maintaining the systems.

- You will assume full responsibility for operating the client systems.

- Escalation to stakeholders will be required when necessary.

- Being self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision towards a shared team and company objective is essential.

Requirements

  • Perl 5.21
  • Per Syntax
  • Catalyst
  • PostgreSQL
  • Utilizing CPAN for modules
  • DBIx::Class (DBIC) for object-relational mapping
  • Test::More for unit testing

You have proficiency in:

  • Bitbucket, Puppet with Hiera, and Jenkins
  • HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • jQuery along with some UI development
  • Plack and Selenium
  • Linux CentOS 6
  • Grafana and Splunk

Required Skills:

  • Proficient Perl Programming: Deep understanding of Perl syntax, object-oriented programming concepts, and advanced Perl modules
  • Database Management: Expertise in SQL queries and database interactions with popular database system
  • Web Technologies: Familiarity with web development concepts like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC): Understanding of Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) and ability to work in a fast-paced development environment
  • Linux/Unix Shell Scripting: Proficiency in writing shell scripts to automate tasks on Linux systems
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical skills to troubleshoot complex issues and identify root causes

Required Experience in following Responsibilities:

  • Application Development/ Support:
  • Design, develop, and maintain web applications and system scripts primarily using Perl, adhering to best practices for code quality and performance optimization.
  • Database Integration:
  • Interact with various databases (like MySQL, PostgreSQL) to retrieve, manipulate, and store data through Perl modules and database queries.
  • API Development:
  • Develop and maintain Perl-based APIs to facilitate data exchange between systems.
  • System Administration Scripting:
  • Write Perl scripts for automating system administration tasks like data processing, file management, and system monitoring.
  • Code Review and Maintenance:
  • Conduct code reviews to ensure quality standards are met, debug existing Perl code, and refactor for improved maintainability.
