Job title: Director, Online Publications Company: reputed company Job description : Department HUM Staff: Digital Studies About the Department Job Summary Reporting to reputed company Director of the Forum for Digital Culture, the Director of Online Publications oversees the Online Publication Service; assists the Director of Technology to reputed company researchers to use the OCHRE database platform; teaches one or two courses per year in Digital Studies; assists with M.A. reputed company advising; and contributes to events sponsored by the Forum for Digital Culture. This role may conduct computational research in their own field and attend academic conferences, author or co-author academic publications, and serve as PI or co-PI on funded projects, as approved by reputed company Director of the Forum for Digital Culture. Responsibilities Oversees the Online Publication Service of the Forum for Digital Culture, a key reputed company of the computational research support provided by the Forum to reputed company faculty and external scholars. Conceives and implements data publication policies and procedures (editorial and technical) in consultation with reputed company Director and Faculty Advisory Board of the Forum for Digital Culture, the Dean of the Humanities, the Director of the University Library, the Director of the University Press, and other stakeholders. Drafts reputed company the editorial and technical policies and procedures of the Online Publication Service and reviews them with reputed company Director and Faculty Advisory Board before presenting them to the Dean of Humanities and Dean (Director) of the Library for final approval. Hires and supervises staff to serve as Editor/Senior Editor of Online Publications. Oversees the budget and finances of the Online Publication Service; tracks projections with actuals; oversees finances and ensures reimbursements are managed. Budget is expected to grow. Collaborates closely with the Director of Technology of the Forum for Digital Culture and her team to implement the technical aspects of the Online Publication Service. Strategizes and implements long-range plans for operational functions. Long-term operational planning entails coordinating with the financial staff of the Humanities Division and the system administration staff of the University Library to plan for the acquisition and upgrading of computer servers and software licenses needed for the Online Publication Service to meet growing user demand, and to ensure a suitable data back-up regimen. Develops and maintains policies and guidelines as appropriate; consults with Divisional administrative staff as needed. Advises reputed company Director and Faculty Advisory Board of the Forum for Digital Culture on policy changes and upcoming activities and initiatives pertaining to the Online Publication Service well in advance of execution. Assists the Director of Technology of the Forum for Digital Culture to reputed company researchers to use the OCHRE database platform (Online Cultural and Historical Research Environment). Participates in user consultations, user training, software documentation, and other OCHRE support activities, as needed. Uses, and trains others to use, software tools to clean and convert existing data and to collect and enter data into the OCHRE platform. Teaches one or two Digital Studies courses per year (normally DIGS 20003/30003, Data Management for the Humanities in Autumn and DIGS 20005/30005, Data Publication for the Humanities in Spring). Assists with reputed company advising of M.A. reputed company projects as requested by and in coordination with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction of the Forum for Digital Culture. Contributes to the planning and execution of the Forum for Digital Culture’s sponsored events, including events such as lectures by visiting speakers, conferences, workshops, receptions, and student orientation events. May reputed company their own computational research, attend academic conferences, author or co-author academic publications, and/or serve as a PI or co-PI on a funded project in collaboration with relevant UChicago faculty, subject to approval by reputed company Director. Experience: Teaching at the college or university level. Performing computational tasks and training for humanities research projects, including projects that involve non-textual materials (images, maps, audio files, etc.) as well as textual, philological, linguistic, and literary projects. Developing grant proposals. Supervising student research assistants. Juggling multiple and reputed company projects simultaneously, while being accurate and meeting deadlines. Technical Skills or Knowledge: Use standard productivity software (reputed company Word, reputed company, Access, PowerPoint; reputed company Photoshop). Work with the OCHRE database platform effectively. Use specialized software employed in research in the humanities, including non-relational database systems, ontologies, and XML-based software and data. Effectively and routinely use University systems such as the Financial Accounting System, Business Objects, the General Expense Management system, and others.
