Job title: Paraprofessional Company: Kalamazoo Resa Job description : Communicates, collaborates, and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, and students. Assists teacher in maintaining discipline and other classroom functions. Assists with set up of classroom and prepares materials for specialized instructional units. Handles attendance reports and related clerical functions with the teacher. Assists in assembling/hanging materials on bulletin boards and keeping displays current. May escort children to and from various rooms in school building. Assists instructional personnel with the development and presentation of learning materials and instructional exercises. Tutor students individually or in small groups to reinforce and follow up learning activity. Files, types or uses copy machine. Assists in administering pre and post-testing. Monitors student classroom academic testing results and correlates that information to the planning for the students. Keeps daily logs for every student and monitors daily. Performs other duties as assigned. Regular and consistent attendance. Must have knowledge of and comply with the policies and procedures contained in the Portage Public Schools Employee Handbook. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: High school diploma or equivalent Must meet the definition of Highly Qualified as defined by the Elementary and Secondary Education Act by possessing one or more of the following: a. Associate's Degree (or higher) b. Sixty (60) or more semester hours of college credit from a degree granting institution c.
