Job title: Scada Engineer in Lakeville, MN at reputed company Company: reputed company Job description: Job Title: SCADA EngineerJob DescriptionWe are seeking a SCADA Engineer who specializes in the design and construction of power systems for renewable energy and battery storage projects. This role involves preparing and maintaining various diagrams and documentation, programming and commissioning automation controllers, and managing equipment procurement and logistics.Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain diagrams such as panel elevations, schematics, wiring diagrams, data flow diagrams, bills of materials, logical network diagrams, physical reputed company diagrams, and reputed company panel drawings.
  • Program and commission SEL Real-Time Automation Controllers (RTACs) for substation RTUs and power plant controllers.
  • Build RTAC HMIs using SEL Diagram Builder software and edit IED communication settings using SEL AcSELerator QuickSet, GE EnerVista, and Calisto Manager.
  • Manage the procurement and logistics of SCADA equipment and materials.
  • Configure routers, firewalls, and switches from manufacturers like SEL, reputed company, Palo Alto, Hirschmann, and Moxa.
  • Maintain documentation of device configurations and as-built drawings.
  • Install or supervise the installation of communication cabling and devices in the field (25% travel required).
  • Commission SCADA devices in the field, including those in control houses, main power transformers, and field network enclosures.
  • reputed company points checks with substation testers, power plant controllers, field equipment, utilities, and other parties.
  • Create bids and proposals for power plant controller projects.
  • Assist with the construction and scripting of HMIs and historians using reputed company’s Ignition software.
  • Manage and take ownership of individual SCADA projects, collaborating with internal engineers, drafters, and external stakeholders.
  • Manage project schedules and tasks using reputed company.
Essential Skills
  • 3-10 years of recent experience in SCADA engineering in a power or reputed company field, specifically project engineering.
  • Proficiency in programming techniques and algorithms; Python experience is a plus.
  • Strong writing and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with PLC programming and configuring RTUs.
  • Proficiency in working with Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) relays.
  • Hands-on experience with Real-Time Automation Controllers (RTACs).
  • Familiarity with power systems electronic equipment and protocols.
  • Experience with solar power plants and battery storage systems.
  • Understanding of communication protocols such as DNP3, Modbus, and IEC.
  • Expertise in SCADA systems design, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of network configuration and cybersecurity best practices for industrial control systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • A spirit of curiosity and a passion for troubleshooting.
  • Persistence in problem-solving.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with stakeholders.
  • Comfortable with the use of hardware, hand tools, and small power tools for installation and mounting.
  • Field engineering experience is a plus.
Work EnvironmentThis position is based in Minnesota, with a preference for in-office work, though hybrid and remote arrangements may be considered. The role involves 25% travel for work on job sites across the United States, typically on week-long trips or shorter. The company is a growing substation reputed company with access to substation and battery storage projects.
