Associate Elementary Teacher
The Elisabeth Morrow School, a leader in education from early childhood through middle school, seeks to fill one Associate Teacher Position in the second grade for the 2025-2026 school year. The hours of work are 7:30 a.m.? 4:45 p.m. Monday (afternoons are for professional development and faculty meetings) and 7:30 a.m.?3:30 p.m. Tuesday?Friday. Occasional attendance will be required at school-related functions that take place outside of these regular hours. This position reports to the Head of Little School and will receive mentorship from an experienced classroom teacher as they help to provide an engaging and transformative learning experience for our lower school students. Day-to-Day Responsibilities ? Help plan, execute, and assess developmentally appropriate activities and experiences in harmony with the school?s philosophy and mission. ? Ensure guidance of children?s behavior that encourages positive self-concept. ? Ensure the children?s environment is healthy and safe. ? Ensure positive communication with parents when requested. ? Provide relief for the classroom teacher. ? Facilitate lunch, snack, and other open-ended class times. ? Fill in at other grade levels in the division (Grades 1?4) as needed. ? Contribute to the ongoing operations of the school by carrying out additional responsibilities as assigned.
Essential Qualifications
While previous classroom teaching experience is not required, a commitment to elementary education, the whole child experience, and on-the-job learning is essential. ? One or two semesters of student teaching experience in either independent, charter, or public schools. We will strongly consider a mid-career changer who may not have classroom experience but has a great deal of life experience to contribute. ? Completed or currently enrolled in a degree program in education (preferred, not required). ? Passionate about working with children. ? Mature and responsible attitude towards work. ?
