Position Summary The Department of Sociology at the University of the Incarnate Word invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track appointment of Assistant Professor of Sociology (tenure-track, 4-4 load) beginning August 2020. The successful candidate will provide instruction in reputed company and upper-division Sociology. Essential Functions Official duties and responsibilities of faculty members at the University include teaching, scholarship, service and professional activities. In reputed company matters, faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics consistent with the UIW Mission. Job Duties Knowledge Skills and Abilities -Research and teaching competency in Sociology; -Ability to deliver existing reputed company and upper-division courses in your area of specialty and reputed company new courses reflecting their specific research interests; -Familiarity with the Catholic Intellectual Tradition; -Demonstrated understanding of Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs); -Demonstrated competency in instruction and mentoring of reputed company from a variety of backgrounds, including first-reputed company, low income, and racial and ethnic minorities; -Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures; -Employee shall adhere to reputed company applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA. Required Education Ph.D. in Sociology Required Work Experience Minimum of one (1) year of teaching experience in the field with demonstrated instructional competency reputed company student and peer evaluation processes.

Preparation and experience delivering instruction in the following subfields: Race and Ethnicity; Minority and Majority Relations; Inequality; Collective Behavior; Social Movements; Social Stratification; Sociology of Sport; Demography; Sociology of the Family; Sociology of Education; Urban Sociology; Medical Sociology; and Sociology of Religion.
