Software Quality Engineer Sr.

About the position Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Software Quality Engineer to ensure the quality of software processes and products throughout the software development life cycle. This role involves independent evaluation of software processes, ensuring compliance with standards, and driving continuous improvement through metrics analysis. The engineer will also manage nonconformances and defects, present quality assessments to stakeholders, and support various quality functions including Quality Control and Quality Assurance. Responsibilities • Evaluate software processes and products for conformity to standards and defined processes. , • Ensure quality is integrated into program processes and products throughout the software development life cycle. , • Develop, monitor, measure, and analyze software metrics for continuous improvement. , • Perform various quality functions including Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and Quality Engineering. , • Direct AS9100 audit support and program metric definition and reporting. , • Track and manage nonconformances, software defects, and corrective actions. , • Present software quality assessments to customers and program management. Requirements • Current US Citizenship , • Active Secret security clearance , • Knowledge of quality systems/processes and external quality standards , • Understanding of software development life cycle models , • Ability to interpret software design and code to verify requirements implementation , • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) , • Excellent communication skills for engaging with teams and resolving technical issues , • Ability to work off-shifts and weekends as needed. Nice-to-haves • Ability to read/write code in C, C++, and/or Java , • Knowledge of configuration management and control tools , • Technical experience in Quality Engineering or related disciplines , • Experience supporting Agile/Scrum software development , • Familiarity with ClearQuest, ClearCase, DOORS, and other Configuration Management tools , • Experience with Atlassian tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence) , • Lean/Six Sigma black or green belt , • ASQ Certified Software Quality Engineer (CSQE) , • Knowledge of AS9100 requirements.
