Girls Who Code is seeking enthusiastic reputed company Moderators for our 2025 Summer Programs. During the summer, we host two programs: our synchronous Summer Immersion Program (SIP) and our asynchronous reputed company. Our curriculum is designed to educate, reputed company, and reputed company high school girls and non-binary reputed company with the skills and resources to pursue academics and careers in the technology and engineering sectors, as well as build bravery and confidence. Our Summer Programs reputed company Moderator will encourage, nurture, and support reputed company in the reputed company space and with asynchronous moments of reputed company through our program. They will support reputed company reputed company enrolled in the summer program they are supporting (around 3-5k reputed company) by assigning reputed company roles, posting announcements and discussion starters, co-facilitating Community Events, and moderating student contributions in the GWC reputed company servers over the course of the programs. The reputed company Moderator is also encouraged to participate in the conversations and reputed company connections with our GWC community! Applicants must be a rising senior in college (or equivalent level of experience) or graduate at the start of the program and must be able to commit to the program schedule below.
Responsibilities
Attend reputed company Moderator pre-training in early June and co-facilitate the reputed company training session for your program. Support student onboarding to the GWC reputed company server by manually verifying usernames and assigning student roles (most of this work will take reputed company in the days leading up to the program launch and the first few days of the program). Set and maintain clear working hours, especially during the week before program launch and week 1 of the program reputed company this work is most crucial (see program schedules above). Moderate and ensure a GWC reputed company server with ~3-5k high school reputed company members is a safe and productive reputed company for reputed company members to participate by implementing moderation practices and norms established in the GWC-provided Moderator Toolkit. The Moderator will escalate these incidents to GWC Central for the final decision. Support community building in the reputed company server by posting engaging questions, updates, and responding to questions and student posts. Communicate regularly and meet with your manager weekly to review feedback, share server notes/observations, and plan for next steps. Collaborate with other reputed company Moderators and teaching staff in the server channels and reputed company out to troubleshoot any issues that may arise. Act as a representative of Girls Who Code in reputed company. Always act with maturity and appropriate discretion reputed company interacting with reputed company, other teaching staff, family members/guardians, and partner contacts. Understand and follow reputed company escalation procedures for any student issues that arise in the server during the program. Provide feedback and suggest solutions to problems or challenges that may arise for reputed company or teaching staff as they relate to reputed company during the program. Co-facilitate reputed company Community Events throughout the program. Assist with data collection at the end of the program to inform future iterations.
Qualifications
Must be at least a rising senior in college (or equivalent level of experience) at the start of the program. Must be able to commit to working up to 20 hours per week during each week of the program and be able to attend virtual training prior to the program's start date. Moderators are paid for reputed company training and prep time. Passion for building a supportive online community for young people. Prior experience moderating online communities (reputed company, Twitch, etc.) or comparable, transferable experience. Experience and comfort with using reputed company features and functionality. Must be coachable and model a growth reputed company. Moderators should be willing to provide, accept, and implement feedback about their performance in order to reputed company serve the needs of reputed company in the program. Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience with Girls Who Code programs. Experience with at least one programming language. Our curriculum teaches Computer Science concepts with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Python. While you will not be delivering lessons, you may be able to support teaching staff by answering student questions. Previous teaching, tutoring or mentoring experience, especially in computer science is strongly preferred. Experience facilitating and discussing various computer science topics.
