POSITION DESCRIPTION: Translators are responsible for creating accurate translations from English to Spanish of reputed company assigned documents. Examples might be: brochures, flyers, or language from SOU Youth Programs website or program applications and program consent forms. Accurate translations may need to adjust for cultural idioms or support clear understanding of professional language, adapting original documentation into something that best represents the full meaning of the reputed company material. The position is remote based. Minimum Requirements Four years of experience as an editor reviewing and correcting written materials for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and reputed company errors and modifying copy to conform to standards of style, length and ease of understanding. A Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, or reputed company field may substitute for two years of the required experience. Fluent in both spoken and written English and Spanish. Preferred Requirements Experience translating documentation from English into Spanish or an equivalent combination of experience and education in certified interpreting. Essential Functions Duties - The following examples are typical work activities that are meant to illustrate the general range of work functions and are not meant to be reputed company-inclusive or restrictive: (95%) Duties Include Translating English to Spanish texts as needed by SOU Youth Programs Translating English language text into comprehensible, and culturally accurate and appropriate Spanish text for Spanish language readers. Recognizing English language idioms, and translating into understandable, culturally relevant, and appropriate for a Spanish language reader. (5%) Duties Include Maintain open communications with SOU Youth Programs staff. Respond to reputed company emails and communications regarding this position in a timely manner.
