Manager, Quality and Compliance (Remote Southern CA area only)

At Healthcare in Action, we serve patients experiencing homelessness through an innovative "street medicine" approach by contracting with Medicare and Medicaid health plans as well as hospitals and health systems. Street medicine entails using a medically equipped van to deliver medical care directly to people experiencing homelessness in locations such as parking lots, encampments, and parks. • *This is a 99% remote position with some travel to the vans for audit preparation when needed so candidate must be local to Southern CA** The Manager, Quality and Compliance will ensure that HIA meets all pertinent regulatory standards set forth by state, federal, and other accrediting health care organizations. This role involves overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality management systems, compliance programs, and risk management strategies This individual will play a leading role in preparing each site for external audits and site visits. They will serve as the liaison between HIA and the SCAN Compliance Team to develop and manage appropriate policies and procedures. Responsibilities include: • Develop policies to ensure compliance with all state, federal, and other pertinent regulatory requirements. Monitor changes in regulations and accreditation standards and update policies and procedures accordingly. • Support each site to prepare for state DHCS Medi-Cal audits which include both Facility Site Reviews and Medical Record Reviews. Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance and prepare the organization for regulatory inspections. • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks, including corrective action plans and process improvements. • Assist with preparedness for FQHC application. Serve as the liaison between HIA, SCAN, and COPE. Assist with FQHC reporting requirements. • Assist new teams with obtaining appropriate licenses and permits including CLIA waivers and biohazardous waste generator permit. • Attend external compliance related meetings or presentations. Serve as the liaison between HIA and the SCAN Compliance Team. • Monitor, track, and address monthly health plan and internal grievances and complaints. • Assist with developing, implementing, and maintaining a supplies ordering cataloging system. • Assist and oversee each team's required monthly compliance reporting to SCAN compliance team. • Ensure POC and medical devices are adequately maintained, and maintenance and quality controls are documented and maintained • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. • Actively support the achievement of SCAN and HIA's Vision and Goals. • Other duties as assigned. Qualifications and experience: • Master's degree, preferred. • Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Nursing degree (RN or LVN) preferred • 3+ years' experience in healthcare compliance, quality management, or a related field. • Demonstrated experience in Audit preparation • Demonstrated experience in State Medi-Cal Guidelines • Demonstrated experience in FQHC Reporting • In-depth knowledge of healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and quality management principles. • Ability to work effectively and participate in a team environment. • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. • Strong attention to detail. Proficiency in data analysis and quality improvement methodologies. • Ability to work independently, organize workflow, adhere to timelines and function in a complex, fast paced environment. • Ablility to handle and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneiously; with minimal supervision. • Ability to maintain strong working relationships with senior and mid-level management and facilitate open communication. • Ability to advise senior management of compliance related risks and provide recommendations for improvement.
