The AVP of Auto Claims will play a pivotal role in managing auto physical damage, non-litigated auto bodily injury, total loss, and inside appraisal teams in accordance with company claim policies, practices, and procedures within delegated authority. This position is crucial for driving optimum claims outcomes, supporting operational goals and business objectives while delivering superior customer service to our policyholders and agents. The AVP will ensure that all job duties and responsibilities are carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements. The role involves planning, controlling, and coordinating claims activity and workflow within the claims unit/department to maintain the highest professional customer service and technical standards. The AVP will lead a team of bodily injury and property damage adjusters who handle low to medium complexity auto claims. They will prepare the operating budget for the unit/department, monitor and control expenses, and ensure the timely settlement of claims while maintaining acceptable closing ratios for the department. The AVP will also recommend claims procedural changes and implement these changes in accordance with company guidelines, keeping current on all changes affecting work production. In addition, the AVP will maintain override capability, authorize settlements up to designated authority limits, and submit recommendations for claims exceeding authority levels. They will oversee combined loss ratio and productivity numbers to ensure compliance with company standards and control allocated claims expenses. Performance management activities for personnel will be a key responsibility, measured against business objectives and claims activity. The AVP will also plan, review, and conduct claims reviews and settlement conferences, ensuring that the team meets the highest standards of service and efficiency. Requirements • College degree preferred , • 10+ years claims experience , • 5+ years claims supervisory experience , • 3-5 years bodily injury and property damage experience , • 3-5 years complex coverage analysis , • Multi-jurisdictional understanding of legal issues , • Strong people and management skills to properly performance manage staff , • Ability to analyze reports and trend analysis to identify issues , • Superior communication, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills , • Excellent presentation skills , • Moderate proficiency with standard business-related software (including Microsoft Outlook, Work Excel, and PowerPoint) , • Sufficient keyboarding proficiency to enter data accurately and efficiently.
