Medical Billing and Coding Specialist - Remote Opportunity

Description This is a remote work-from-home position. Candidates must reside within a three-hour radius of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, to be considered. As a Medical Billing/Coding Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring that patient visits are accurately coded into insurance claims and billing statements, allowing for successful payments. Key Responsibilities • Engage daily with patients/customers via phone to answer inquiries and process payments. • Accurately code patient visits to ensure timely billing. • Collaborate with team members to address billing and insurance questions. • Process weekly billing of patient visits as part of an employee rotation schedule. • Communicate with insurance companies to resolve payment issues. • File electronic insurance claims and appeals. • Respond to claim denials and work towards resolution. Required Skills And Abilities • Strong verbal and written communication skills, both over the phone and in person. • Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to providing outstanding customer service. • Knowledge of billing guidelines for Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial, and Workers' Compensation insurance. • Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems. • Previous experience handling claims, payment posting, denials, and appeals. • Ability to work full days from home without interruptions. Education And Experience • High school diploma or equivalent. • Certificate in Medical Coding. • A minimum of two years of related experience is required. Physical Requirements • Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer. • Frequent use of hands for typing and data entry. • Ability to speak on the phone for at least 50% of the workday. • Occasional standing, walking, and transitioning between sitting and standing positions.
