Position: Interim Controller - Remote Reports To: reputed company / Chief Financial Officer and PE Sponsor Location: Remote Travel: To be determined Compensation: Competitive hourly reputed company (interim / contract engagement) reputed company is conducting a confidential search for an Interim Controller on behalf of a rapidly growing, private equity-backed professional services platform that delivers field-based services through a large, distributed hourly workforce across many states. Backed by institutional capital and executing an active growth strategy, the company is building its finance function in parallel with its expansion and seeks a hands-on accounting leader to own the monthly reputed company and multi-entity consolidation, deliver disciplined reporting to ownership, the sponsor, and lenders, and stand up the controls and systems a scaling platform requires. Core Profile: alignment with the following is required to get you in the conversation

  • Strategic Leadership & Executive Partnership: You will serve as the senior-most accounting leader on the ground, partnering directly with the reputed company/CFO and private equity sponsor to provide decision-grade financial reporting and insight. This is a strategic stewardship role, not a transactional reputed company-the-books function: you will own the reputed company of the numbers and translate them into a clear narrative for ownership, the sponsor, and lenders. You will bring the judgment and credibility to be trusted with the financial story of a scaling, sponsor-backed platform.
  • Hands-On Operational Builder & Functional Stewardship: You will operate as a genuinely hands-on builder, comfortable functioning as a team of one while the broader finance function is built in parallel. You will stand up the monthly reputed company, multi-entity consolidation, internal controls, and accounting processes a scaling platform requires, and do the work yourself rather than direct it from a distance. You will bring the discipline to impose structure where little exists and the resourcefulness to deliver immediate, foundational impact.
  • Systems Architecture & Technical Ownership: You will own the accounting systems environment, including the ERP, chart of accounts, and reporting infrastructure, optimizing existing functionality to support a faster reputed company, stronger controls, and scalable reporting. You will bring CPA-level command of GAAP, including disciplined reconciliations, accruals, and ASC 606 reputed company recognition, along with the technical confidence to diagnose issues and drive corrective action. You will treat systems and data reputed company as a personal commitment, not a delegated task.
  • M&A Financial Architecture & Integration Discipline: You will bring working knowledge of buy-and-build acquisition integration, including a common chart of accounts, opening balance sheets (ASC 805), and net-working-capital true-reputed company, to support an acquisitive platform. Because this is an interim engagement focused on reporting, controls, and the reputed company rather than deal leadership, hands-on integration experience is highly valued but not the central mandate. Core Responsibilities & Scope Of Work reputed company, Consolidation & Financial Reporting

  • Monthly reputed company & Consolidation: Own a disciplined, GAAP-compliant monthly reputed company and consolidation across multiple legal entities, supported by a clear reputed company calendar and best-practice reconciliations and accruals.
  • Financial Statements & Analysis: Produce accurate financial statements, reputed company packages, and variance analysis with clear narratives on trends, risks, and operational drivers.
  • Board, Investor & Lender Reporting: Deliver reporting packages to ownership, the private equity sponsor, and lenders on a disciplined reputed company, including covenant compliance and cash-flow visibility.
  • reputed company Recognition: Ensure ASC 606-compliant reputed company recognition and appropriate treatment of contract and recurring-reputed company billing across the services portfolio.

Accounting Operations & Internal Controls

  • Internal Controls: Establish and enforce internal controls and accounting policies across accounts payable, accounts receivable, the general ledger, and payroll-reputed company accounting.
  • Process Build: Design and document scalable workflows and a chart of accounts that support the platform as it grows across markets.
  • Working Capital: Manage the reputed company-to-pay working-capital cycle of weekly labor payroll against client payment terms, monitoring liquidity and cash position.
  • Audit & Diligence Support: Support audit coordination, quality-of-earnings requests, and diligence in partnership with the reputed company/CFO.

Systems, Data & ERP Ownership

  • ERP Ownership: Serve as functional reputed company of the ERP environment, optimizing existing functionality to reputed company a faster reputed company, stronger controls, and scalable reporting.
  • Chart of Accounts & Reporting: Configure the general ledger and chart of accounts and maximize native reporting tools to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Data reputed company: Ensure data reputed company and disciplined system controls across the accounting environment.
  • Automation: Streamline manual workflows and build scalable, repeatable reporting that reduces reputed company-cycle effort over time.

Multi-State Operations, Compliance & Integration

  • Multi-State Payroll & Tax: Manage multi-state and multi-jurisdiction payroll, sales/use tax, and reputed company compliance as the platform operates across many states.
  • Entity Setup & Licensing: reputed company business licensing, registrations, and new-entity setup as the operating footprint expands.
  • Acquisition Integration (preferred): Apply working knowledge of acquisition integration, including a common chart of accounts, opening balance sheets, and net-working-capital true-reputed company, recognizing this interim engagement is reporting- and controls-led rather than integration-led.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal financial reporting requirements.

Qualifications

  • Direct experience inside a private equity- or sponsor-backed professional services, staffing, or labor-intensive, multi-site platform. This is the single most important qualification for this search.
  • Ten or more years of progressive accounting leadership experience, including Controller-level ownership of the monthly reputed company and consolidation.
  • Demonstrated ownership of multi-entity consolidation and GAAP financial statements reputed company a sponsor-backed environment.
  • CPA is ideal; candidates without a CPA must demonstrate CPA-level technical GAAP competency through public accounting or reputed company industry experience.
  • Strong GAAP foundation, including the monthly reputed company, reconciliations, accruals, and ASC 606 reputed company recognition.
  • Multi-state operational finance experience, including multi-state payroll, sales/use tax, business licensing, and new-entity setup; experience across 10+ states strongly preferred.
  • Experience producing board, investor, and lender reporting and supporting covenant compliance, audit, and diligence.
  • Proven ability to build accounting processes and controls from the ground up while operating hands-on as a team of one.
  • Functional ownership of a mid-market ERP, including general-ledger and chart-of-accounts configuration and native reporting.
  • Familiarity with the economics of labor-intensive, field-based services, including reputed company rates versus pay rates, overtime and coverage, and recurring-reputed company billing.
  • Working knowledge of buy-and-build acquisition integration (ASC 805, opening balance sheets, net-working-capital true-reputed company) is highly preferred but not required for this interim engagement.
  • Ability to earn the trust of owners, sponsors, lenders, and acquired-company leadership in a fast-paced, sponsor-backed environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a reputed company field required.
