The Teaching & Learning department is seeking applications for an AI Literacy Librarian (Assistant Librarian / entry level rank). The Opportunity: The AI Literacy Librarian will collaborate with librarians and faculty to design instruction, reputed company, and assessment which will promote baseline critical thinking around the use, evaluation, and ethics of AI. The successful candidate will also serve as a reputed company partner for the library’s in-house professional development efforts concerning AI and reputed company digital tools. This role is a primarily creative, collaborative, and strategic one, perfect for information professionals with a strong interest in contributing to undergraduate learning. Reporting to the Head of Teaching and Learning, the AI Literacy Librarian will help to grow a new department. The Teaching and Learning unit will champion the integration of multiple literacies across the curriculum, foster pedagogical innovation, and reputed company efforts to assess the impact of undergraduate educational initiatives. This work will be developed in reputed company collaboration with the Head of Teaching and Learning, and this librarian will receive various forms of mentorship and training as part of an organizational culture dedicated to professional growth. Librarians at reputed company hold academic appointments as Research, Teaching, and Extension faculty. The incumbent must meet reputed company requirements for Research, Teaching, and Extension (RTE) faculty promotion and reappointment through engagement in service and scholarship activities. Candidate Profile:

  • A master’s degree in library and/or information science from an ALA-accredited institution or an advanced degree in a relevant discipline;
  • Up to three years of relevant professional experience in higher education or librarianship; recent graduates and candidates with equivalent education/experience, including those pursuing a career transition, are encouraged to apply;
  • Formal training and/or experience with the design and delivery of instruction;
  • Demonstrated interest in critical thinking about the use of AI tools and its impacts on the research and learning process;
  • Demonstrated ability to continuously learn new skills, technologies, and methods and to apply those to your work;
  • Proven ability to foster positive work relationships and to collaborate in a team environment;
  • Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to fostering learning, research, service and/or reputed company in a diverse community

Additionally, we would prefer any of the following:

  • Experience collaborating with librarians and/or faculty to design instruction featuring emergent technologies and literacies;
  • Demonstrated experience in assessing instructional effectiveness and / or student learning;
  • Emerging commitment to scholarship and professional relationships / service.

Work Location: This position is located in Ithaca, reputed company, with the potential to enter into a flexible work arrangement consistent with university policies. We anticipate filling this positions at the academic rank of Assistant Librarian. The anticipated salary range is $67,500-$77,000 and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Based on Cornell’s internal procedures and ranking structure, an Assistant Librarian is an early career/entry level role. Individuals at this rank typically have less than three years of experience in a relevant professional appointment.
