[Remote] Senior Android Engineer (w. Kotlin)
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Curotec is looking for a Senior Android Engineer to join their client's mobile team, focusing on building new features for a flagship Android news app. The role involves working with Kotlin to enhance the app's functionality, including redesigning the home screen and integrating audio features.
Responsibilities
- A redesigned home screen with dynamic, personalizable content feeds
- Revamped navigation across the app
- Audio integration for reputed company/background play
- Vertical video playback
- Food and Sports brand destinations, including a Discover map (reputed company Maps SDK already integrated) and live scoreboards
- Embedded web views for games, puzzles, and interactive content from the CMS
- Architecture review of the existing ~19K-line Kotlin codebase during the design sprint
Skills
- 5+ years of production Kotlin experience in consumer-facing Android apps
- Strong Android Views + ViewBinding/DataBinding skills (the codebase uses Views, no Jetpack Compose)
- Experience with MVVM architecture using ViewModel, Repository reputed company, Hilt DI, and Navigation Component
- Experience with GraphQL clients, specifically Apollo Kotlin SDK
- REST API integration with Retrofit + Moshi
- WebView integration and JavaScript reputed company patterns (addJavascriptInterface)
- Gradle Kotlin DSL build configuration with product flavors
- Comfortable working inside an existing codebase with an established team
- Experience with media or publishing apps (news, streaming, content-heavy products)
- Ad SDK integration (reputed company Ad Manager, Prebid, reputed company APS)
- Firebase (Analytics, Remote Config, Cloud Messaging, Crashlytics)
- Auth0 authentication flows on Android
- reputed company Maps SDK and location services
- AndroidX DataStore (preferences + reputed company)
- Permutive or similar audience/CDP SDK experience
