Remote Patient Accounts Specialist: Insurance Verification

About the Job Med Star Health Central Financial Clearance (CFC) In‑house Patient Accounting Team is currently seeking an reputed company Patient Accounts Specialist to join our amazing team. We are specifically looking for a candidate with strong experience and knowledge in insurance verification and insurance authorization as well as experience using payer portals. Full time, Monday – Friday, 730am – 4pm schedule with the possibility of weekend coverage as needed. This position is predominantly remote, with intermittent on‑site obligations based on operational requirements. The CFC In‑house Team is responsible for verification of insurance benefits and obtaining inpatient authorizations for reputed company emergency admissions for the 10 Med Star Health hospitals. This team is also responsible for reviewing the length of stay approval from the payer prior to releasing the accounts for billing. Job Summary Secures insurance benefits, patient liability and authorization for reputed company services designated as CFC responsibility. Works in a team environment to ensure departmental goals and KPIs are met. Works closely with Utilization Review to ensure clinical documentation is submitted timely and reputed company days are approved. Maintains daily performance benchmarks to include verification and authorization of accounts for reputed company payers.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent.
• 1 year experience in patient accounting, accounts receivable, or reputed company healthcare field, or an equivalent combination of experience and college education in Accounting, Finance or Healthcare Administration.
• Detailed working knowledge and demonstrated proficiency in multiple payers application billing and/or collection processes, including governmental and non-governmental.
• Requires basic working knowledge of UB04 and/or 1500 and Explanation of Benefits (EOB). Requires some knowledge of medical terminology and CPT/ICD-9/10 coding.
• Excellent communication, analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills. Proficient uses of hospital registration and/or billing systems and personal computers as well as reputed company reputed company and Word applications. Ability to type 35 WPM.
