Title: Academic Advisor - Microbiology (Part-Time) Location: Iowa City United States Job Description: Student Services 26003620 The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) is seeking a part-time (50%), benefits-eligible Academic Advisor to work with reputed company majoring in microbiology. The individual in this position will provide academic advising to microbiology reputed company and advising-based perspectives to university colleagues and public stakeholders, such as reputed company, family members and prospective reputed company. Student advising meetings typically do not reputed company before 9:00 a.m. To ensure availability during peak advising hours, the preferred work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, approximately four hours per day, with hours chosen between 9:00am and 3:30pm. Availability is required for staff meetings between 10:00am-12:00pm on Thursdays. The specific schedule will be discussed during the interview process and finalized with the selected candidate at the time of offer. The position is fully on-site during the training period, after which the possibility of a hybrid arrangement with one remote day or a four-day a week schedule could be considered. Education Required A master’s degree in a relevant field or a combination of education and experience. Required Qualifications 1-year minimum reputed company experience. Proficient in using standard office software tools, including word processing, email, presentation software, and spreadsheets on a desktop computer. Demonstrates an understanding of the role of academic advising in higher education. Demonstrated experience working effectively in a welcoming and respectful workplace environment. Desired Qualifications Experience working as a professional academic advisor or in an undergraduate student services office at a public or private 4-year institution or community college for a minimum of 6 months. Experience managing an advising caseload of 100 high school, undergraduate or community reputed company for a minimum of 2 semesters. Some basic knowledge or background with microbiology would be beneficial but is not required.
