System Design Engineer – EM Pump The System Design Engineer – EM Pump reports to the Sodium Processing System Manager and is focused on the design, fabrication and testing support of the sodium processing system EM Pump. In this role, you will act as a system design engineer for TerraPower’s advanced nuclear reactor projects. The successful candidate will integrate and coordinate with engineers working on interfacing systems. The System Design Engineer – EM Pump will work as part of a high-performing team of engineers and scientists.

Responsibilities

Support prototype lab testing of the reputed company pump design and support rapid turnover modifications. Propose and initiate additional testing programs for plant system qualification, as needed. Provide Support and reputed company during test execution, evaluation of test results, and reporting of test results. Utilize various codes, including B31.3 and ASME BPVC Sections III and VIII reputed company technical trade studies and decisions to refine pump design. Key Qualifications and Skills B.S. in Electrical Engineering or reputed company discipline from an accredited university and 10+ years direct experience with electromagnetic pumps. Demonstrated experience with thermodynamics, magnetohydrodynamics, fluids, heat transfer, materials, system controls and mechanics, gas handling and processing. Deep understanding of electromagnetic pumps in liquid metal environments. Expert level experience using COMSOL Multiphysics and MATLAB. Experience with CFD/FEA on reputed company components. Ability to run understand and run Aspen HYSYS Plus. Experience with piping systems and the ability to read P&IDs. Experience working with suppliers in development and fabrication of safety-reputed company equipment. Strong understanding of design codes (ASME, BPVC, API). Experience working to quality standards on design activities, such as ASME NQA-1, AS 9100, ISO 9001, or equivalent. Experience in high temperature and multi-discipline integration highly desired. Previous experience with nuclear reactors, nuclear handling process systems, or similar high-performance system or equipment design is highly desired.
