Process Engineer

Eichleay, Inc. is seeking a Process Engineer to join their team in Ferndale, WA. This early-career role focuses on providing hands-on support for industrial and refinery clients while collaborating with senior engineers on various process engineering tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with development of heat and material balances and basic process calculations
  • Support process simulation efforts using tools such as HYSYS
  • Help develop process deliverables including PFDs, P&IDs, line lists, and equipment lists
  • Participate in process safety activities such as PHAs, HAZOPs, and design reviews
  • Work with senior engineers to evaluate process systems and identify improvements
  • Assist with equipment sizing and preparation of basic specifications
  • Support vendor data review and coordination
  • Contribute to process documentation including basis of design and process descriptions
  • Use collaboration tools such as Bluebeam and Microsoft Office to support project execution

Skills

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or related discipline from an ABET-accredited program
  • 0–4 years of experience (internship or co-op experience preferred)
  • Interest in working in refinery or industrial environments
  • Familiarity with process simulation tools (e.g., HYSYS, Pro/II)
  • Exposure to PFDs, P&IDs, or other process deliverables
  • Basic understanding of process safety concepts (PHA, HAZOP, etc.)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and document tools (e.g., Bluebeam or similar)
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to learn and take on new challenges
  • HHFT Safety Training and current card or ability to obtain
  • Client Safety Training and current badge or ability to obtain
  • TWIC Certification and current card or ability to obtain. TWIC card must be obtained prior to start date or start date may need to be adjusted
  • Background screening including previous employment, education, criminal history, and driving record verification
  • Participation in random drug and alcohol programs

Benefits

  • Hybrid work schedule.
  • Travel to local clients will be required and there can be at least one day per week for meetings. Travel outside the area is expected to be minimal, less than 10%
  • HHFT Safety Training and current card or ability to obtain.

  • TWIC Certification and current card or ability to obtain. TWIC card must be obtained prior to start date or start date may need to be adjusted.
